Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Lady Smith

Cats are very careful creatures. They want to have the upper hand at all times. If they don't feel comfortable, they won't attack, unless they're just starving.

New Mexico makes you take a class, too. They try to teach you that you have to identify sex before shooting!!! How screwy is that!! They just want to make it difficult as possible, so the tree huggers won't scream bloody hell... . Ridiculous. I do know most of the farmers and ranches in Western Texas and New Mexico are having some problems, if you see one an don't try to shoot it, you won't be invited back!! Those guys have calves and sheep eaten every day!!! It doesn't take a cat very long to decimate a sheep herd!! They'll eat a lamb or kid almost every day, and if there's more than one cat, it gets serious, quick!!

A good 357, . 45, or . 44 work well on cats. Shot placement is everything, but they'll work. I had a friend kill one in January with a . 38+p round. Shot it in the face looking up at him from a wash!!! He stepped over it before he saw it!! Not near as big as the kitty above, but pretty good sized, and very healthy.

Ordered this rig for my Alaskan, I believe it will work out nicely, lot's of good reviews.

Diamond D Custom Leather

JJ I have a holster something like that from Safari Land I tried it and tried it but could never get use to having something on my chest like that. Maybe body structure or size will make it different for you. Looking at the website that you put up I found a VERY HELPFULL item that I'm going to order I LIKE IT I LIKE IT ALOT :D

... . those Silver Bullets have killed more indians than real ones.....

I never cared for a shoulder rig myself..... especially when riding! They flopped all over the place!! A belly band worked better with a smaller sidearm, like a Makarov or Walther PPKS. Then it went to a leg holster, but I was always catching it on things, and the brush would sometimes almost take my . 44 away from me!! Not cool! Now I either go with a high riding hip rig and a 1911 or the belly band when it's not so hot... .

Those are good points for defense. 15 missed shots are useless if you can do it in one good hit.

My grandfather had a 41 Magnum Model 29 that he was deadly with. But the long barrel made it like a rifle! I always joked with him that he was halfway to the target with the muzzle... ...

As for the wolf and having your picture taken, that's why your fully camo'ed, laying on the ground 600 yds away. :D I've never heard about the camera taking a picture. I know the older collars would send out a signal whenever they didn't track motion or heat for a specific amount of time. That's why you caught a neighborhood dog when you were passing through some random place..... the black bears had 'em too. Those would go around the axle on some random semi truck in a truck stop..... preferably one headed to California..... :D

If it was a 41 mag it was eather a 58 or 57 mod. There is no mod 29 41 mag.

I'm sure you're right. It's been years since I've seen it. My cousin got it after Pop's death. It was an earlier model, so I couldn't remember exactly what it was... . I thought all the regular magnums were 29s... . I guess those were just for the 44 magnum.

HHhuntitall, I believe all the "N" frame resolvers(as well as the other frame sizes) had different model designations for the different chamberings. I know that the . 45 Colt was a model 25. I really like that . 45 Colt Cartridge. The issue with this in a S&W is that the cylinder locking cuts are directly over the chambers. Hot loads are a No-No! If the cylinder locking bolt could be repositioned in the frame so the engagement cuts in the cylinder were between the chambers, AND a heavy barrel fitted to the frame That would be my perfect resolver!
I have a M-29-2 in . 44 Magnum. I've shot that one so many times, the side plate is peeled;)! Was thinking about sending it back to S&W(maybe the custom shop:cool:) for a refurb. The barrel is really smooth from all the lead shot through it over the last 37 years:D
The barrel on my M-29 is the 6 7/8". The "N" frame grip is really the best fitting resolver for my hand size. GregH

It's funny, every time I get a good S&W revolver, someone offers me too much money for it... . I had a . 44 Special 696? I believe, 5 shot cylinder... I got it for $200 at a pawn shop, with both sets of grips and the original box... . I loved that thing!! It shot a ragged hole if I would do my part... . but I was at the range in Wichita Falls, shooting, and a guy saw it, asked to look at it, and asked what I wanted for it... . I sold it for $450 with all I had and @ 50 rounds handloads... ... I had a . 45 ACP "Target", Model 1950, but it wasn't all original... someone had tried to up the value by boring the cylinder to . 45 Colt, but botched it..... I gave $300 for it, even though one of the cylinders wasn't cut straight... . I just left that cylinder open... I sold it to a friend who collects them... . Then I had a 25 I traded for. It's in . 45 Colt... . Lastly, I came up with a . 45 DA... . I'm not sure what it is... . I think it's a 1917 hand ejector model... . I don't ever shoot 'em, so I guess they'll go to my friend, too. I don't have that much experience with the S&Ws... . I've got several Colt Army revolvers. I do love me some 32-20!! Don't know why, but it's pretty fun to shoot... .

My favorite of all, though, is the old Hawes Wester Marshal SAA in . 44 Mag. I've about wore the cylinder locks out on it, and already replaced the spawl once... . I do like that thing... . I don't shoot it much anymore, as I've moved up to "modern" weapons, but if I'm feeling nostalgic, I'll get 'er out and let 'er do some talkin'.....

Naaaahhhhh. . 223 with some good AP ammo will do the trick... ... Although I'd prefer a small howitzer..... :D Dirty boogers. That's a good hog, right there!! It's dead!!Oo.

Wow, look at those dew-claws!! What kind of irrigation has that thing been living in!! Looks like he hasn't had to do much walking on hard ground!!!

It is from your state, killed in Cut-N-Shoot, TX. near Conroe, TX. 1800 lbs. The locals call them Piney Wood Rooter's. Lotsa ham :)

Nick

Soooo... ... I am gullable, I thought it was really shot in Texas:eek:

As far as size and weight go, using the man for size comparison, I would say it is way over 450 lbs. Pigs are like lead for their size.

Nick

NIssacs, Dont feel bad. If I vetted every source of information out there I would not have time to do anything else! I get caught, also! Kinda #@$%! me off, too:mad:! GregH

OH, hey, me too!! I wasn't trying to say your stupid!! NO WAY!! I was just trying to figure out where it was killed. I might want to do some hunting down there!!! Conroe ain't that far!! :D Turkey... . well, that's too far... . for this year.

No Problem HHhuntitall! Theres so much of that stuff out there. Its really hard to tell who's leg is gettin' pulled:-laf! Ya just cant take this internet stuff at face value! Been caught more than once;)!
Some of those links also have malicious worms imbedded so it can crash your computer! GregH
