I have had this long unresolved issue with my 02. It has done it for about 3 years and it only acts up when the temps get cold.
While slowing to a stop it will downshift really firm on its own, it feels like it would if you manually shifted into 2nd and then first. It actually does this all of the time but it is "enhanced" during cold weather. Then after a stop or a slow down it has a delayed upshift, I need to get the rpm up to around 2800 rpm for it to upshift out of 1st then it is normal. Seems to only do it after a trip of 15-20 miles or longer and then coming to a stop or near stop. I have changed the speed sensor adjusted both bands reset the apps adjusted the TV cable and nothing changes it.
Any pointers here. It has a BD valve body, torque converter and pressure lock installed on it.
I am wondering if the BD pressure lock doesn't return to idle position fast enough or if it is hanging up if this would cause this?
