Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 47re help needed

Truck has been running and working fine. Ran into a store came out to leave took off and trams went into first then second as normal. It then seemed to be in neutral. Then stayed in second after a bit it seemed to be in neutral and only had first gear. Stopped checked fluid level is good and color looked fine. Took off again first then second gear back but still no third. Second seems to come and go. If I stop for a bit second seems to come back. Codes 522,523. My oil pressure sending unit has been very flaky last thousand miles but just have not got around to changing it out. Code 0500 have had before at various times and 1693 companion code. None of the Codes are transmission related Anyway limped back to where I am staying which is out in the sticks closest small town is mancos or Cortez colorado about 15 miles to either one.

Anyone have any thoughts on issue. Currently 400 miles from home and my trusted mechanics and need to head back very soon any help greatly appreciated

I had a similar issue, my truck wouldnt shift past 2nd gear so i limped it home. coule days later made an appointment to have a transmission shop look at it. Hadnt started it since i limped it home. On the way there all i had was 3rd, nothing else. turned out to be the speed sensor. they told me theyve seen it before and was somewhat common.

I had a similar occurence a couple months back and it turned out to be a relay.
