Old UPS Delivery Trucks???

Well I did it and have registered for bid on dovebid.com.

I went to see some of the assets today. The are 4bt with at t19 transmission,1978-1989 gruman trucks on a ford E350 chassis.

At least all of these are running units in reasonable condition.

If I get one I am taking out all of the drive train and putting it in my 53 GMC 1/2 ton as part of the restore.

The 4bt are all rotary pumps, it seems that the inline P7100 will not hit the auction market for a few more years.

The guy that showed me the asset had a lot of good information and we seems to hit it off very well.

He said the inline pumps were noiser :D but got better fuel mileage and seemed to have less low end power than the rotary. (that can easily be fixed :-laf )

Now for some info for your conversion guys, there is two different mounting positions for the turbo, mostly a low mount like under the exhaust manifold. And a high mount like ontop of the manifold. Their was no intercoolers on any of these engines :{ . There were two different type of vacumn pumps, the V-belt drive sitting on the upper right as you look at the front of the engine and a gear drive vacumn pump that was still on the right side but behind the front plate. According to the gentleman I talked to, he said the gear drive pumps lasted a lot longer. But if you have a gear drive pump it eliminates the power steering pump option.

I will keep you guys informed If I get one of the vans.

Lets see If I can get one for a good price????

On my 4BT, I ordered the Rock Auto vacuum pump for a 94 Dodge Cummins 6BTA and Saginaw pump body, and put my PS cannister on it. So you can have gear driven assessory vacuum and PS.

I have bid on one truck (1989) that has power steering and a belt drive vacumn pump, low mount turbo, t19 manual transmission, 100 amp alt.

I am very hopefull that I get it, but will not know until tomorrow 12 noon PST.

:D

YEEHAW! :D

I got my bread truck.

$1300, not bad for a running, 4bt (rotary pump)with T19 manual complete. Low mount turbo, E350 chassis and AL gruman box.

That beats the heack out of just buying an engine for $2500 plus.

I will post pix when I pick up the truck.
