The trans grinds every time i shift to 4th. I am guessing its the snychro? Is this pretty common? What will be the result if I keep driving it without having it repaired? Will it be ok or will 4th eventually go out and/or will it take anything else out with it?

Thanks

Dave

It's no problem to drive it but the grinding can cause damage. If you can figure out how to shift it without grinding it you'll be fine.

You could try double clutching, that usually helps if it is a synchro problem. Like Scott said, really try to avoid grinding the gears as new ones are expensive when rebuild time comes.

MY 94 ground and made noises, turned out the 4th gear that pressed on the countershaft was wallering around and pretty well trashed the transmission.
