Truck has turned 182k miles and now I have a gremlin. Whilst minding my business driving to work I noticed the 4lo light blinking on the cluster. It would do it on a occasion and not even daily. I ignored it when I checked the MM3 for codes and there wasn't any. Then one day I went out to the truck to unlock it and hit the fob and then something was clicking under the truck several times. I drove home think that was weird, no codes no warnings. Then I got home and it was clicking some more. The more I drove it the more it seems to happen. Then about a week ago I was driving to lunch and I was getting the 4lo flashes however I was never in neutral. Went to go turn and well folks we are in 4wd. Dash switch is definitely on 2wd. Get done hopping and bopping into my parking spot and shut it off. Then restarted and now we are in 2wd and no more skipping around. So I am in 4wd and have never shifted into it. Now when I walk by my truck at work, just merely walk by I can hear it shifting and clanking below. I am not even touching the truck. Last straw was when it shifted into 4wd when my wife took my son to the bike park. I got called and drove it around the gravel lot shifting into 4lo through neutral and back. That got it back to 2wd. I got it home and climbed under and disconnected the TC shift motor 7pin plug. Suggestions????? I have had the radio replaced a few months ago and I had the Trans built last November. Other than that no recent mods, other than adding the MM3. Truck is a 2006 2500 Mega.

Ozy, that is funny you said that because the switch was disconnected after the radio install I found that out when I needed to get up a gravel driveway and had to back it back down. This all started when that switch was put back in service. How does the switch get power when the truck is off to cycle the motor?

Update, the switch tested out to be fine and behaving in all positions. However when it was being driven it had an active fault saying it was the TC motor. Got one on order and it will be here soon. I will update again after the fix is applied and after it has been driven for sometime. The 5v circuit also tested to be fine and at 5v. Replaced the AC sensor and that had no effect.

Fix has been installed now for 3 weeks and so far so good. The motor seemed to be the solution. I have had to shift into 4wd twice and it has functioned like it always did and has disconnected like it should. No codes, no service 4wd and especially no hopping through parking lots. I will post again when I have a couple thousand miles on it.
