Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 4x4 vacuum line connections

The day has come and I have to rebuild the 47RE in my 180,000 mile 97 Ram CC 2500 with 4x4. In looking at the vacuum lines and finding nothing in the manual I'm asking HOW DO I DISCONNECT THESE LITTLE DEVILS? Looks like I need to disconnect the hose from the transfer case at the hard line and also at the front axle in order to remove the lines. Anyone with experience on this? PK

They pull right off, twist and it will pull easy

as the other guy said they just pull of. you have to remove the trans crossmember so unbolt the steel part of the lines(3 bolts,1 on crossmember, 2 on frame) & take the lines out completly. you don't want to bend or kink them, so put them in a safe place.

Thanks guys for the reply. I've not yet tried to disconnect the lines as I'm still waiting for parts. The transmission is still working but is destined for failure--I found a chunk of metal in the pan and the front band is adjusted ALL the way. Knowing how to disconnect the lines is a big help. PK

When it come time to remove the cross member, move it up then take it out, a couple raps with a no-blow mallet did it for me.

That is correct. You must bang the cross member upwards. If you tap it down it will wedge itself and you must beat on it for 30 minutes to get it out. THIS I KNOW! LOL. After you remove the vacuum lines, wrap them in a nice neat round circle and place them in the round filing cabinate. Order the Posi-Loc cable. You will be glad you did.
