I have had it. I have put up with this s**** lack of service to long. Take the truck for a oil change, over fill. Take the truck for a fluid change, leaky gaskets. Take the truck to have Mag-hytec transmission pan installed, under fill 1. 5 qts. They did not check level after filling. Take truck for broken drivers side door hinge and they wanted to charge $70. 00 to open the door and see it was broken. The last straw. Take truck to have the throttle cable replaced (broken strands) and they cut the wires going the the water/fuelseperator so the filter is easier to take off (prime loc). I just found this by luck as I was showing a nieghbor where the water/fuel drain was. The name of this wonderful service location is LARSON DODGE in Puyallup,Wa. After they fix this they will never see my truck again. I may get busted for posting this, but if it saves one person it will be worth it and life will go on. Can't spell either. 11-21-00 Wife took the truck in today and the first guy she talked to tried to give her a hard time , but after he researched his computer a little further he was a lot nicer. I forgot to mention in my original post that they have also stripped out two of the bolt holes in the transmission so the mag-hytec bolts no longer will fit. I was going to try and get them to fix this at the same time, but am too scared of what else could get messed up so am going to have that fixed when transmision upgrade is done.

Add Glen E Thomas, Long Beach, Ca to list - yes, the same guys that do DieselFest in December. I've taken two different trucks to those clowns & they've screwed things up everytime - replaced a sliding rear window with a non-slider, played the 'tires are too big & causing the shimmy', etc, etc.

I don't go to 5 star dealers anymore. In my experience, every one of them has been worse by a large margin that the ones who aren't. Leith Dodge in Raleigh NC has been real good to me. They're a new dealer and have a long way to go before getting their rating but I can tell you that they're much better than the other dealers around here, 5 star or not.

I can highly recommend one 5***** dealer: Montana Dodge in Billings. Nothing but good experiences so far.

I'm with you. I would highly recommend
our Five Star Dodge Dealership in
Jacksonville, N. C. , namely, "National
Dodge. " The Cummins Technician there
is Roy Whaley. He has done a very
good job for myself and TDR member
Pete Peterson. Pete has bought three
Dodge CTD trucks there over the last
6-7 years. He IS royalty at the
dealership!

I went to Larson Dodge when shopping for a new truck and was totally unimpressed. Let's put it this way, they value their new trucks a lot more than I do/did.

Larson Dodge... that's where I ordered/purchased my Ram. I have been treated very well there. I really have been given their 5-star treatment... they have gone the extra mile for me on several occasions. At LEAST half a dozen guys (and one gal) I work with have purchased new Rams through their Fleet Manager Jim Minion. Jim is as good as they come. #ad

Tracy, sorry to hear you have had such a rough time there. Maybe it's time to call or e-mail Rob Larson (the Big Kahuna).

As far as a 5***** dealer I can highly recomend Mike Anderson Dodge in Marion Ind. They have been very helpful in all problems with my 2000 and also recomended the arbritation process and buyback of my 2000 and helped with the purchase of my 2001

I wouldn't send my worst enemy to RoundTree Dodge in Lake Charles. They're sales, service, and parts are the worst I've ever seen.
Now for the Good Guys: Bayou Heritage in Jenning. Those guys treated me right even though I didn't buy my truck from them. They're part department were great. Haven't had to use the service department since I've got 125000 on the meter but the service writer is a nice guy.

I bought my truck there also. They are very nice when you bring it in, I am just tired of going back all the time for simple stuff. This is not brain surgery. How hard is it to start the truck after doing a transmission fluid change, let it warm up and pull the dipstick to check your work??

This maybe a dumb question but I will ask it anyway. I looked up all of the Cummins service center locations and found that one is located close to me in Springfield Missouri. Can you take your truck to these service centers? Do they cover warrenty work on the engine? Will they work on the rest of the truck? How good are they compared to the Dealers?

Thanks
Denny

Sorry Dennis, you have to go through the Dodge dealer for any warranty work. They have a contract or something. Threads like this always make me glad I have over 104,000 miles and am gladly my own warranty station!
Speaking of which, did anyone catch in the latest TDR where Polly Holmes trashed the auto transmission in her truck? She was going through how they tore all the mods off of it so they could get the warranty work done! #ad
Better look out Polly, the "warranty police" will be after you!

TRACY, not to make excuses for Larson Dodge but, you can't just start the engine and expect the transmission to warm up without driving it. The only accurate way to check the fluid level is after the truck has been driven to the point where the ATF is WARM. Time is money... they probably figure(d) close is close enough. Anyway, 1. 5 quarts low will result in very poor operation of your transmission.

Bottom Line: you are correct, there is no excuse for poor workmanship!

Have you tried the new Dodge dealer in Enumclaw... Enumclaw Dodge? What about Tom Matson in Auburn? Maybe you and your Ram will receive better treatment there.

You can add Hinkley Dodge in Salt Lake City to the lowlife hit list. Their Service Mangler is a arrogant SOB.

That 5 star is a gimmick. Just something to get the yuppies in off the road, so they can say "look honey, this dealer loves us".

Lets get real. The Service Mgrs. in the auto dealership world change homes a couple times a year. The hired hands inside usually aren't any better, most of whom are working for some dope money. I use the dealership for one thing and one thing only... order vehicles. I had to tell this little prick of a Service mgr. how I felt when he tried to strong arm me to order my truck from them because they were "5 star"... here's how that went.
"I dont give a rats a** about your service because here's the deal. If my truck breaks, YOU WILL FIX IT. I dont care if it breaks in Chicago or San Diego, or in front of a dealership I never sit foot in. Its under warranty, and by law, you will fix it regardless of how many stars and stripes you have on the welcome sign, and regardless of where I bought it from. "

I've been called radical before, but I dont stand for anyone running me, or my friends around. If I see fight I jump in. Maybe I have a slight chemical imbalance, maybe I have a couple wires crossed?

Not sure what it is, but I hate to see people get used, abused and taken advantage of by big politics, or big companies. There are week people all over this country who cant stand for themselves for whatever reason. They cant call the police or the better business bureau every time someone jacks them around. That's why people like me, you and every other American with a backbone need to start standing up for what we have earned the right to. If not, the road to success is going to be filled with many more obstacles for our kids, and all the sacrifices made by us and by those before us will have been for nothing.

I'm not talking about wars and stuff either. Everyday type things that are killing us. Example, I went up to the cafeteria at work one morning for biscuits and gravy. Never ate there, thought I would give it a try. I walked over to the cash register with that and 1 piece of bacon and a glass of water... "$8. 70 please". "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?!? I understand the need for profit, but this is outrageous for some bread and gravy that only cost $1 to make" I walked back to the line and gave my plate to the cook and urged everyone in line to walk out of there. Most people would have just paid the money, not wanting to make a scene, and never went back. Not me. Needless to say, their breakfast crowd dwindled down to a handful of people after that. The next week not only did the breakfast prices drop, but so did the lunch and dinner prices. We need to let people know that we will not stand to be screwed over. I once got in a taxi, and bailed out as soon as the driver started talking in some foreign language. If enough people did that, he would be forced to learn the language, and speak it. Instead people just turn a blind eye to it and offer a tip as they exit the cab. Just because the person doing the screwing is wearing a fake smile, or was elected by a bunch of people living in houses the size of shopping malls, doesn't make it right. Some things we cant help, but its the small things that we can do for others that make big changes down that road to success for all of us.

I'll get off my box now, but the next time someone tries to jack you or your neighbor around, remember my words.
