John, where did you hear that JRE gets thier systems form Stan's and are you sure?

Absolutely Arcticat! Ted Jannetty told me himself. When I emailed Ted asking about a price on his JRE system he suggested I purchase it directly from Stan if I lived close enough to his shop (which I do) as opposed to paying additional freight to purchase the same thing (more or less) from him. How's that for good customer relations? He would rather I get a better price even if it meant losing a sale for himself. Very impressive in my book. OBTW, by more or less I mean, the 4" exhaust system is produced by Stan's Headers although Ted purchases the system without a muffler. I'm not sure what muffler Ted adds to the JRE system however, I do know Stan uses an Allied truck muffler (straight through design) which has a very pleasant tone to it. I believe Ted uses more of a performance oriented muffler.

First of all, Stan's Headers manufactures exhaust systems for at least several different companies... it is very expensive to purchase mandrel bending equipment capable of bending 4"-5" exhaust tubing. Ask Gale Banks... stainless steel is extremely hard to bend, much more so than aluminized steel. BTW, I purchased my Banks stainless steel exhaust system for a very reasonable price... only about a hundred more than either the JRE or Stan's system.

PS: I would listen to a 5" exhaust system prior to purchasing one for your own Ram... you may not like what you hear. Put it this way, if you are one of those Rammers that has had the silencer ring out for more than a month (and still like it that way) you may be the right person for a 5" system.

PUFF, I've been down at Stan's Headers when they were packaging the exhaust systems for JRE... it "may" take "approximately" one half hour if you were to consider pulling all the individual parts wrapping same, taping and addressing each box etc. Keep in mind this is not a large operation. I think Stan is a fair person and will ultimately do what is right although, maybe without a smile. He is by no means in the same league as Bill Kondolay or Piers Harry when it comes to exemplary customer service though.

Why would you want to do that to yourself?

My poor old Sickly Ram dynoed at only 609 hp with a 4" exhaust. Do you think it would give me 700 with 5" or do I need 6" (maybe Gene's 10" well casing) #ad

In regards to what brand of Muffler is used on the Jannetty exhaust, when i bought it he told me it was Walker muffler.

I thought that was the case although, I wasn't sure which model/part number.

Thanks, Gene. #ad

Lessee, 609 with 4" means to stay ahead, I need to double that to 8" and get 1218 hp. Might have a fit problem. . . how about dual turbos each feeding a 4" exhaust #ad

I like your theory but it might work only east of the Mississippi river, where some folks use voodoo calculations instead of dyno results #ad

Sorry to hear about your troubles with Stan's Headers. I recently installed their 4" downpipe behind my Hx40, complete with a second 3'long straight section that they included, which had a hanger bracket welded on to fit in the rubber bushing in it's stock location.
It all fit together like a charm, though I did have to buy a big rig type sleeve clamp to put the two pipes together. I wish they'd given me a "heads-up" on needing the clamp, or included it in the kit.
But other than that, their customer service is great. the welds are neat, it LOOKS GOOD !

Well Joe,
Using your math, it would go like this:

I have 302hp w/3 inch exhaust.

Reading this board, I am made to believe 4" is better, 5" adds more yet, so 6" would HAVE to double my power, up to 604hp.
Not quite enough to edge Sickly.

Going to 12" would doble agin, to 1208hp.
12" won't fit, I measured.
So back it down to 10", that should be around a 1000 hp.
Anyone dispute this theory?
Gene

For you DIYers,
Walker is now putting out a 4" catback set-up. I picked up the tailpipe for my Ramcharger (P/N 54 150) and it was less than 60$. Running it with the 3"in 4"out resonator off a '98 and it sounds good and normal conversation is still possible. No backpressure problems. Something to think about as an alternative to the high dollar set-ups.

There is a lot of hype about Stan's. I tried to buy a system for my last truck from him. He was to involved with helping Customers that had there vehicles being worked on. i guess if I had my truck on his lift he would have given me a little more of his time. This is too bad considering I could drive down there and have put it on, I dont live too far away. He is not to friendly imo.

Hey guys ya'll been cracking me up. Now can we get serious for jusst a second? lol i'm thinking of cutting my down pipe, making a Y and go to two 4'' stacks for my 1 ton dually I have a custom service body and the stacks should look pretty cool do you guys think it would be to loud without mufflers ???

Stan has received the exhaust and has agreed to refund my money less boxing and shipping. He would not admit there was anything wrong with the exhaust. He said it was
”perfect”. In fact, he said he was installing it on a truck that day. I told him the exhaust was not perfect, that in fact it was not flared properly and that I could not fit the sections together. He said all he had to do was hit it a few times with a hammer and the system fit right together, and that it was probably damaged by UPS. So, does that sound like a “perfect” exhaust? I didn’t argue the point; I had had enough of his logic. I told him I didn’t think I should pay for boxing and shipping. He disagreed. I am filing a credit card dispute.

Howdy, Gene,
before an administrator slams you, keep that Chevy math out of here!!! #ad

Puff, Sounds like the guy isn't to concerned about customer satisfaction. I bet if he knew how many people are reading and have access to this thread he would of given you the exhaust for free!!!! LOL

Not in his defense but i had a great expierence with Diesel pro witch is stans nephew or cousin or somthing like that my exhaust is a stans but in a different package. And mine fit fine and looks and sounds great. I cant believe the hard time they are giving you he probley doesnt mean it somtimes we all get in a not so good mood and if you are not in the buisness of dealing with the public most of the time you dont truley understand the mood swings that occure with the job. Again not in his deffence but we all have our good times and we all have th bad times. And some time s it is hard to be passive and say sure the exhaust is on me we you have to pay the bills at the end of the week and deall with the men and all the other things that go allong with owning your own biusness and dealing with the public.

cant we all just get along
