John, where did you hear that JRE gets thier systems form Stan's and are you sure?
Absolutely Arcticat! Ted Jannetty told me himself. When I emailed Ted asking about a price on his JRE system he suggested I purchase it directly from Stan if I lived close enough to his shop (which I do) as opposed to paying additional freight to purchase the same thing (more or less) from him. How's that for good customer relations? He would rather I get a better price even if it meant losing a sale for himself. Very impressive in my book. OBTW, by more or less I mean, the 4" exhaust system is produced by Stan's Headers although Ted purchases the system without a muffler. I'm not sure what muffler Ted adds to the JRE system however, I do know Stan uses an Allied truck muffler (straight through design) which has a very pleasant tone to it. I believe Ted uses more of a performance oriented muffler.
First of all, Stan's Headers manufactures exhaust systems for at least several different companies... it is very expensive to purchase mandrel bending equipment capable of bending 4"-5" exhaust tubing. Ask Gale Banks... stainless steel is extremely hard to bend, much more so than aluminized steel. BTW, I purchased my Banks stainless steel exhaust system for a very reasonable price... only about a hundred more than either the JRE or Stan's system.
PS: I would listen to a 5" exhaust system prior to purchasing one for your own Ram... you may not like what you hear. Put it this way, if you are one of those Rammers that has had the silencer ring out for more than a month (and still like it that way) you may be the right person for a 5" system.
PUFF, I've been down at Stan's Headers when they were packaging the exhaust systems for JRE... it "may" take "approximately" one half hour if you were to consider pulling all the individual parts wrapping same, taping and addressing each box etc. Keep in mind this is not a large operation. I think Stan is a fair person and will ultimately do what is right although, maybe without a smile. He is by no means in the same league as Bill Kondolay or Piers Harry when it comes to exemplary customer service though.
