FASS install questions.

FASS, what is it?

Ken, as I said in my email last week, I would really be interested

in the 5" system, no muffler. I just thought of something to ask

about regarding the system - would a 5" system come with a 4" -

5" downpipe? My HX40 turbo has a 4" exhaust outlet, and so I

would need a downpipe that mates up to the turbo and then

expands to the 5" size.

Thanks,

Tom

I am in if the deal goes through. I will need two sets, one for a Reg Cab Long bed, and one for a Quad Cab, Short bed. At least one with no muffler. CANT WAIT!!! Oo.

Good point. I will clarify and get back to you on that. I am under the impression it would be 4" connector to the turbo with a 5" downpipe.

From the photo it appears to be 4" downpipe and then to 5" from the bottom bend back.

I understand it to be a major PIA to get anything bigger than 4 past the bell housing/firewall area.

Guys, just a heads-up: Regarding the 5" systems, it can be a bear to remove/replace both auto & manual trannies with a pipe system of that size in place. You may want to consider using big-rig band clamps to join the pipe pieces, rather than the crimp-type hoop clamps that come with most systems. Once the pipe pieces are crimped, they ain't coming back apart without a lot of cutting & hacking. The band clamps are only $4 to $6 at most truck parts places.

My 4" was in the house when I got home last night. . Just from what I looked at it shows to be of good quality. I took a look at the muffler and its not a straight thru design. There are no baffles that the exhaust has to pass thru but it does have a couple of 90* that it has to do to get out... So far that is all that I see that I dont like. . When I get home tonight I will lay it all out on the garage floor for some pictures to post...

OK here it is! I have called 3 times this morning looking for some answers on the muffler and all 3 times I have been told that 'we will have someone call you back'... so far nothing! Before I instlall this system I wanted to check the muffler story out. Up till now they have not impressed me with customer service...

I would maybe call again and ask for Anthony. Tell him you are part of the TDR and you are going to be giving feedback to thousands of members and many who are intereseted in a mass group purchase for the 5" from their company.

Just got off the phone with Anthony. . Had a great conversation with him concerning our exhaust systems. He said that we will have the option of 2 different mufflers. . a straight thru design and then also a baffled design for those who want things a little more on the quiet side.

Also an added option that I suggested is a chrome tip. . again a choice of a slash cut design or the curved design. Not sure if the 5" exhaust would have this option or not.

He also is sending me a replacement for the baffled muffler that I got with my kit. When I get the other muffler I will lay out the parts and take pictures to show the system and all the parts.

I hope to be able to install the system in the next week or so and supply the install pictures as well.

I will keep you posted on the outcome. .

I figured he would be helpful. Thanks for asking reguarding the Chrome tip and straight through muffler. I will be talking with him today also and negotiating those items for the group purchase. Looking forward to hearing your feedback on the 4".

Thanks,

Ken

Rharvey;

Are the 5" mufflers in house or another make? I'm thinking Walker or Allied. I have a friend who's interested but is concerned about the muffler. Some pics of the straight-through muffler would be good.

Thanks;

Josiah

Josiah,

I am not sure about the 5" mufflers yet. . And my replacement muffler is on its way and should be here first part of next week. When it shows up I am going to supply pictures of not only the 2 different mufflers but also the complete system...

Rick

I may be interested.

Is the 5" system loud with a muffler, without?

I'm guessing it will be a deep throaty sounding system, am I correct?

Does he make them for a 1st gen? I just bought one.

Eric

I might be in .

What are the benifets of either the 4" or 5" over a stock system?

How loud would it be without a muffler.

I already have an Edge EZ and will be adding 275rv injectors soon, how will all this work with that system ?

Sorry for the questions , kind of new to all this.

stock system is very restrictive. an aftermarket system will give you a better sound and let your motor breathe easier, hence lowering EGT's. plus having a sewer pipe coming out under the truck looks great. hope this helps
