FASS install questions.

FASS, what is it?

Satmike, I haven't installed it yet, but was planning on putting it behind the cross member. It should fit without mods. I would hate to try to dent it, pretty stout.

Elited1, try a big rig dealer. I saved more than 25% off that price. You may have to pay sales tax, but with a muffler that big, shipping wouldn't be cheap.

Some listing's on Donaldson's mufflers.

M090595 - the one Big Exaust uses

flow rate with 1 in hg backpressure 1431cfm 10-15 db quieting

3 in hg backpressure 2478cfm

M090535- the one I went with

flow rate with 1 in hg backpressure 2340cfm 12-17 db quieting

3 in hg backpressure 3260cfm

M100465 - the less expense (I think because they sell big numbers of this model)

flow rate with 1 in hg back pressure 1620 cfm 15-20 db quieting

3 in hg back pressure 2790 cfm

didn't ask but I'd guess it's got a baffle.

Hope this helps,

Bill

5"' EXHAUST

What was the FINALLY price of the 5" system (with out muffler)??

Just where do you start to mount that 51" long muffler??

Right on the Down pipe??

Any other mods that would have to be made??

THANKS FOR INFO. .

I PLAN ON ordering tomorrow

Thanks wsteffes!

Now the question is how much does the pipe have to be modified to accommodate the bigger muffler, other than a bigger section has to be cut out.

Thanks,

John

Going to depend on the truck. Mine is 03 6sp with the long box. I had plenty of room. But a few more inchs I'd have been hitting the underneath of the cab.

If you got a short box lot more work, have to drop the front down to clear the underneath of the cab.

Never measured under a short box not sure whats in the way. Easy way would be measure out from the front pipe in any place that looks tight and see if a 9 in muffler 51 in long will fit or how much it would have to be lowered to fit.

Make sure it you do it leave space around muffler. I had left the front frame mounting rod for the orginal muffler on and the bigger muffler would vibrate against it. It's now cut off!!

John, I have a '98 4x4 QC long bed. There is PLENTY of room for the 51" muffler. That length is with both flanges, so mounted will be a bit shorter. HTH

Ordered the 5" with muffler Monday and it is in KY enroute my way. Good thing because the "Big Exhaust" website now shows this on it's page for the 5" system,

"We're Sorry...

The product that you are looking for is currently not available for sale. It is either temporarily out of stock or the product has been discontinued. "

Hey does anyone know what happen to the exhaust deal on the big exhaust website? Are they not offering it anymore? If anybody has any info let me know.

Also thanks for the tip on the different size muffler. Which will only be useful if i can order it.

Later,

John

Good ?. Not even listed now from what I saw. Guess we overwhelmed them. :D

I looked at the 5" exhaust for the 3rd. gen. The tailpipe looks the same as what came with mine.

If you bought the tail pipe (assuming it's the same), the down pipe for the 4" kit, and some 5" exhaust pipe locally and an adapter to go from 4" to 5" I think it'll work.

5"' EXHAUST

I ordered my BIG 5"er TODAY.

Talk to Antony he said I COULD JUST order from the WEBSITE!!!

So it must STILL BE HERE!!!?

But while I had him on the Phone... I orderd (no muffler) I can get the DONALDSON (Mo90535) here for $75.

Cann't wait.

He said that IT WAS 16 gauge (not 14)

JUST SOME FYI

Sounds like the website isn't an accurate source...

of information.

I'm going to call and try to order a 5" mufflerless (I'm not married) setup for a G2- tomorrow or next week.

There's no evidence of that where I looked. I'll talk to Anthony.

I was going to wait until I got the HX-40, but hey this thing bolts up to a 35! I'll use band clamps to play with mufflers and make it easy to change out the downpipe when I get the big SPOOL.

Now come on folks let's find some 6 or 7 inch stainless to fab TIPS with.

OOOOH the ricers will be so green (and sooty)!Oo.

Hey here a little info.

There is another website that you can go to, to order the same system. Go to www.dodge-pickups.com

I talk to the guy at the big exhaust phone number and he was also seeing that the exhaust was not on www.bigexhaust.com.

He didn't know why. Anyways it is back on both websites, and it looks like the price before the discount is back up to $380 (well one part of the website says $380, the other says $370?)

Later,

John

Ordered mine last week, Installed it yesterday. AWSOME. Only took 2. 5 hours to remove the stock system and put the new one in. :--)

Okay, I used the "dodge-pickups" link to order. You have to scroll down and "select" your TDR discount. $340 for w/o muff less $40 discount is 300 PLUS $55 shipping.

Now to shop for mufflers.

Can anyone tell me what would be the difference in a resonator or using a muffler? I bought the 5" big exhaust system and don't know which would be better to use.

Thanks,

John

might one of you "5-inch" guys be so kind as to post some pictures of this system installed on your truck - especially the downpipe/trans. area and the rear axle area? would like to see how much clearance there is, etc.
