Has anyone installed H&S' complete 5" exhaust? I am curious mainly about the down pipe. I have heard/ understand there is a catalytic converter inside my stock down pipe. Is there any way I can remove the catalytic converter from my stock down pipe? Will I really notice a difference in sound and /or performance using the 5" complete system versus their much less expensive dpf delete kit? 5" 700. 00 vs. dpf delete 349. 00 If its loud, stinks, or smokes, I gotta have it.

not sure about 5" but a down pipe module and some threaded bungs are on the way to me... im runnin the 4" down pipe a short piece to put the sensors back in and goin up the 6" mitre's off of my 04. i hope it sounds good. the h&s guys say the 6. 7 has no drone like the common rail 5. 9 does

I've considered building my own straight pipe. Do you Know where to get the bungs for the sensors? What are they using to fool the sensors? I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of products from the internet but I have never had such difficulties communicating as I have recently trying to get info on this type of exhaust mod equipment ... . and no I am not going to mention they're names. I will not run down any one, but I would have already ordered the 5" complete kit if they would just return a phone call.

I have the 5" tbe and think it's great. It is louder but I think I am going to get a section of 5" pipe and dump the muffler that comes with it. I have heard some videos on You tube that sound great, but mine doesn't sound as good. I think a straight pipe will sound better even though the muffler is straight through. I like it loud too!
It is a good system and yes it does kill the kitty in the down pipe. It fits well and only throws one code, but if you have a juice w/att you can set it to clear codes on start up and you will be good. I have had great luck with them returning e mails if you can't get through on the phone.
Good luck.
P. S. I personally think that $350 for the delete kit, which comes with a pipe with the grommets for the sensors is cheap. Also $350 additional for a full turbo back 5" exhaust is a deal.

Hey there guys, I have an H&S 5" kit installed my my truck now for about 4 weeks. The Kit is a complete turbo back kit with muffler. You will remove all cats and DPF from the truck. The kit also comes with a black box that plug into the EGT probes. This kit is bent for H&S by a company called Expand it who makes mandrel bent exhaust. Understanding that by installing this kit you are installing a beta kit and not a full release of the electronics package. It will on occasion throw a CEL. If you are running an Edge with Attitude you can clear the codes on startup but it does NOT affect the way the truck runs. It is my understanding that once H&S finishes the final release on the electronics I will be upgrades at no extra charge.

My impression of this kit:

Install was quite simple and the quality of the kit was good. I definitly feel that I got my money worth. The kit has a nice low tone to it which is not at all annoying. You can barley tell there is a difference while driving down the road until you get over 2000 RPM. At idle/warm up there is a humerus jet engine turbine sound when the truck turns on the exhaust brake. I was also surprised to see that with these two kits installed my truck smokes less then it did before stock. This motor is really happy to be breathing better. With this install I also installed an afe Proguard 7 Filter, A MUST. Power was very sigifigant but most of all I notice is the drop in EGT's. I was driving the other day with 300 Gal of Diesel in my bed and a full tank 56 gal in my Transfer Flow tank and I went up the Grape Vine on the 5 freeway in CA doing between 75 and 80. I don't think at any point in time I could get the truck to go over 1100 deg and that was with my programmer on 3. The few time that I have actually turned my programmer on 5 as just flat shock on the power, acceleration and how fast I ran out of road. When I am not driving like a mad man I have seen 20-22 mpg on my overhead before. Keep in mind that I have a G56 Manual on stock rubber so I am running fairly high rpms. I would expect that the Auto guys are going to see even better numbers. The Kit does not with any tip so you may want to pick one up. I order a 5" turn down from MBRP and it was a great finishing touch.

Impression of Intake:

It is recommended that with running this large of an exhaust that you need to get more air into the motor. I decided to run the AFE Pro Guard 7 filter. The kit comes with both Proguard 5 oiled filter and a Proguard 7 dry filter with a prewrap. Installation was very simple and took about 30 min. I notice a huge difference in responce time as will as the increased turbo sound. I actually really like the sound of it and when the exhaust brake turns on it sounds really mean. This is not a cheap intake system thou even buying whole sale it was around $400 so do your shopping. AFE makes a very nice product and you do get your monies worth though.

So if you want more power, quicker response, better mpg and a awsome sound and can live with a CEL some times then this is money well spend.

Final project cost $1200+/-

Overall Impression :--)Oo.

Hi All,

I am sorry for being so ignorant on this subject, however I am assuming that by installing this kit (or any other kit that will come along) you are probably no longer in compliance with the EPA??? Will this affect you warranty? Will the dealer report you when you take the truck in for work?

I remember getting into a little trouble for loosing a Cat on my ol Chevy Blazer several years ago.

Thanks for the info.

Assumsion correct. Yes it will. & If you take it to the dealer with any after market mods you would be asking for trouble.

On the flip side. Getting the DPF and Cats, there are 2 of them, out of the exhaust gives you lower egts, better fuel economy and if you ever start to loose an injector you will be able to tell befor you melt down your motor, because you will see billowing white clouds of raw fuel coming out of your tail pipe. With the Cats and DPF, you won't know anything is wrong until it could be too late.

Blocking EGR gives you MUCH cooler egts especially when towing, and much better fuel economy as the engine will run much more efficiently.

Worth the chance you take and the extra work to r&r it when necessary. JMO. :D

i have posted a couple of videos on the cummins forum with a 4" turbo back, no dpf, Oem down pipe gone, cat gone. the muffler is still on there. i will post a thread on here for yall
