Does anyone have a picture of a 5" Monster Tip (installed) from Geno's Garage. I am looking to upgrade to a chrome tip and was wondering how the fit and finish is. Thanks.

Chris

I had one of the Monster tips from Geno's Garage several years ago. The quality of the Monster exhaust tip as well as the chrome plating is excellent. However, after approximately six months a rock chipped away some chrome from the very edge with rust following shortly.

Geno's 5" tip

I don't have a picture, but it went right on and looks excellent. I chose to weld mine instead of riveting it on.

I also had one, in fact I tried to remove it from the old tail pipe yesterday with the thought of passing it on to another member but there was now way it was coming off without a large fight and damage to it's exterior.

It was real nice quality, fit was tight on the 4" BD exhaust, had to bake the tip while sanding and using WD-40 on the BD, then it slid on fairly easily. If yours doesn't go right on and you have tried the above, try turning the tip until you find the 'sweet spot', worked for me.

I still have my original 4" turn down chrome tip that came with the BD exhaust, excellent shape, real nice looking chrome. If any one wants it, send me a email, private message, etc. and it's yours for free, you pay the freight. First come first serve.

Stainless Steel Tip

Get a hold of Jerry Jardine. I met him at Timberline Dodge, nice man. I went out and fired up my truck so people could listen and ask me questions. I bought his system with a weld on SS tip. Here is his # 1-800-934-3569.

EMDDIESEL,

The tip available from Jardine is a 5" stainless steel tip. I just finished installing the whole system in my truck on Thursday. Unfortunately the turn out was not included with the rest of my parts. When I ordered my system the tips were on BO.

A quick call on Thursday got my turn out welded to a tip and shipped out ASAP. I expect it in early next week. I'll let you know how it looks.

(Service from Piannacle Performance/Jerry Jardine was extremely responsive to my call. )

EMD,

I talked to Jerry today. He said the tip is a slash cut, approx 15°, like Geno's. Its about 14 inches long. He also said it tapers from a 4" to a 5"I. D. I pictured a Megaphone style tip. I don't want one of those :D

He said the new shipment looks like stronger metal than the past one. They are 35 bananas each. A good price for S. S.

I don't want this style below: :D :D :D :D LOL

5" Tip

BIG BOB,

you may want to reconsider not securing your tip by either welding or riveting. I thought the same thing when I first put mine on... there SEEMED to be plenty of friction to hold it in place, until a couple of days later I noticed it was about half way from falling off! I welded it that night.

Drag Racer,

I just moved my 5" Monster Tip out to be even with the new mud flaps. It will never fall off! It took some WD-40, a punch and a hammer, and a bunch of persuasion to get it to move. It not coming off, I don't need to weld it. I appreciate the heads up on it though.

Happy Bombing!

Jardine's isn't tapered. I don't have a pic of mine, but it's 5" diameter from the tip almost back to where it connects to the pipe. Then it makes a quick step down to 4". It is angle cut and has a nice rolled outer edge. It has "Magnaflow" printed on the top edge, so maybe you can find something on their web site. It's at least 12" long I'd say. .

Any of you guys got a picture, face on, of the exhaust pipe showing clearance between the exhaust system and the rear wheel(s)?

The reason why I ask, is that I'm running with the Diesel Dynamics 4 inch exhaust system plus the 5 inch tip and the heat on the tip has disfigured the rear surface of the RHS fender guard due to how close they are... .

I'm going to replace the rear fender guards in a couple of months time anyway with some from NW Custom, but it looks like, I'll have to extend the 4 inch pipe section back somewhat to ensure I have adequate clearance and don't melt the rubber (again!)

Thanks for the info on the tip David. I should have listened to you before I did Jerry J.

This is what it looks like:

here's what I did... got a piece of 4" (cat back, past the axle) ran a 5'' to 4" fitting, 5" elbow, 5" clamp to a Kenworth stack which I cut on a chop-off saw. Grease the clamp before installing to prevent an accident and keep a good fit.
