5-Speed Gear Shift Knob

All right - How do you get the Da-- thing off of the shift extender shaft????

You can use a real thin/sharp knife and pop the shift pattern out then you will see the nut.

Can it be done without destroying the emblem?

I removed mine twice without damage.

Is it glued on or is it just a press fit? - This is a '01 2500

The insert has a step on its circumference. The lower portion is larger diameter than the part you see. It fits into a groove in the knob. It might be easier to remove if the knob is warm.

If want to replace it with one that reads 1-2-3-4-5-R instead of that stupid L-O business you can buy the different shift emblem from the dealer for under $5.

If you want to remove the knob, just grab hold of it and twist. To put it back on, you'll need to remove the shift emblem to get to the nut, then reinstall the emblem. Just turn on the radio, make yourself comfortable in the front seat and take your time. Piece of cake.
