Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 5sp to 6sp transmission switch?

Transmission went out on my 1996 and am thinking about replacing 5spd with 6 spd. Shop here in Montana says it should be not problem for them. Quoted $4900 for complete job including new HD clutch. Any ideas or advise more than welcome.

I'd call Peter @ South Bend Clutch and his connection @ Blumenthals. (I think that's the name) Peter Will set you up with the right clutch and the other place has the trans and conversion kits to do it right. You could get the parts and have any decent shop do the install. (try to check them out to avoid posting in the 911 forum)
