Does Dodge have any restrictions on welding 5th wheel angle brackest to the frame on the 02 trucks?

i had it done on my 93 and it never was a problem.

I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't weld anything to the frame. In today's trucks having the bare minimum for metal due to weight, I wouldn't take the chance of welding and weakening the frame.

My 93 has brackets with threaded 1/2" plate for a 5'er, but its bolted to the framerails just under the box.

Here is a page out of the installation instruction for my Draw-Tite hitch. Notice the welding instruction towards the botton of the page.

weld?

Do not weld , safety warning in owners manual ,its not a hard for you to bolt on a set or hold down brackets some holes will aligh up and only as small number will be needed to drill use a pilot drill first and sharp drill bits and use loc tight on threds. welding is a no no weakens the frame and can cause accidents. also do not drill the top flange of frame only the side down one inch from top flange. I installed my own fifth wheel hitch on my current truck. I know it's BOLTED on correctly and it's straight. I'm a perfectionist. I took 2 days to do it but I didn't work on it full time. I used the old adage "Measure twice, cut once". If you take your time and work slow, it's not rocket science. Hardest thing was removing and reinstalling plastic wheel liners on my 4x4.
