For those of you that have installed your own 5th wheel hitch, any advice? Also I need to decide if I want a (side/side) fixed or pivoting head, any suggestions?

Just be careful on the drivers side of the frame, the brake lines, fuel lines, and maybe some electrical stuff are in it. My 95 frame had holes in it that lined up with the brackets that came with the hitch, but i dont know if they all do.

Definately use the side to side tilter. The horrendus pain is connecting back up on uneven ground. I bought the Super 5 thru Camping world. The base looks like a pyramid & doesn't go all the way from fender well to fender well, so it doesn't take up the room in the bed. Its about a 22. 5klb hitch.

If you can do it yourself & you're careful, you can do it so you can get the pins in & out without beating them. Camping world did a good job. I took that hitch into 2 other trucks & did it myself.

phil definitly the swivel side to side i have a reese 18k and i swear by it the dealer that i go to has put it in three different trucks for me a 93,98&99 alldodge diesels i couldn't do the work for what he charged me. good luck don
