5th wheel suspension mod

Which mod do you think is a better investment for a 3 axle 16,000lb toy hauler, an ez-flex wet bolt equalizer kit or an Airborne airride pin box. I know the pin box is easier to install and I think that the bounce from the pin is as bad as the bounce from the suspension. All the pro and cons are greatly appreciated.

I had to make that same decision a year or so ago, and chose the Airborne pin box. I was skeptical that it would do any good, but the improvement was dramatic. I would vote for the pin box, but I have had no experience with the ex-flex wet bolt equalizer.

Pin box hands down. Would not hesitate on putting one on any trailer!! If I ever get a chance to trade mine, it will have a air ride pin box before I hook on it!!

I have the Dexter EZ Flex. It is one of the best upgrades that I have done to the trailer. The plastic bushings in the stock suspension are shot by the time you get a rig home. The upgrade kit seems to be fairly well built, definitely a big improvement. I have never considered a better pin box as fortunately I do not have a problem with the ride on the hitch.

FWIW, I spoke to a rep at an RV show once and asked that same question; pin box or axle improvements. He suggested that since most of the trailer weight was on the axles that improvements there were best. I think he was with Mor-ryde. I didn't do either so I can't offer me expereiences.

I have the Mor-Ryde equalizer on my 40' Landmark. All of my other trailers are torsion rubber ride, this is the only one I have any experience with the Mor-Ryde, all I can say is, For some of the rough roads that I have traveled on, everything was in it's place and in tack when we arrived at our destination and very surprised at that. As far as the pin box, I am still amazed at how much it moves separate from the truck when hitting the rough roads and how much you don't feel hitting that oh I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER this is going to hurt hole or bump in the road!

I say ck your suspension and if there is any movement from worn bushing,up grade to the dexter equalizer and wet bolt kit w/bronze bushings. . I had worn my 5er's suspension after 40,000 miles- replaced it w/dexters equalizers and shackle kit wow it pulled like a new camper,no sway or excessive movement on long sweeping curves. The equalizers w/rubber spacer, absorbs some shock from pot holes and expansion joints and it also change the ride in my truck. I did the job at home and was done in about 4hrs w/repacking the wheel bearings (dont trust the ez-lube spindles)

I have a 5th airborne pinbox and an dexter ez-flex kit on my raptor. Did the pinbox 1st, made a big difference, wasn't sure if I would notice any improvement from the dexter kit but I did.
