Ford Story

I was on patrol on the midnight shift last night, checking several of our local car dealerships. I try to check over all the lots that are not gated off. I noticed the Ford lot had recently gotten 4 new 6. 0 Super Dutys which were sitting together. After all the reading I had done I couldn't resist looking under them with the flashlight. :--) 2 of the 4 were leaking! One was just the initial "bellhousing stain" I've heard referred to. The other was a full on dripping leak.

I could hardly believe a vehicle listing for nearly 45k was sitting on the lot losing oil. The strange thing was that one of the clean ones had a blue dot (inspection paint maybe?) on the round circle cast into the bellhousing. I wondered if it was "a good one". I thought certainly that Ford would have rectified this by now. These were current production vehicles which were just delivered within the last two weeks.

Seeing this firsthand made me very thankful for TDR and Dieselstop. Without the information I got from them while I was comparison shopping, I might have been involved in a very sad situation right now. Thankfully, instead I am enjoying myself and my new truck. Thanks to all who post.

How does the slogan go... ... . "Quality is Job 1"????

If the problem is that obvious one has to wonder what is going on at Ford headquarters. Will the dealer pull those two leaking units in and disassemble them for repair ... ..... or will the shop wash away the evidence during pre-delivery detail and put them out front to be sold?

I think F series trucks represent the largest and most profitable segment of Ford's market. When the truck line is in trouble the entire company has got to be ailing. I'm afraid the problem at Ford is going to get worse before it gets better.

I wish Ford and Ford buyers well. IMO Ford builds excellent trucks and cars. I've owned several very good Ford products in the past.

keep in mind that the world best selling "truck" is the F-150... ... ... ... ... not the Superduty.

And they apparently treat their customers like number two once the deal is done (and I'm not talking diesel fuel).
