The CEL came on when I started truck on saturday and is staying on. All gauges, fluid levels are ok. I tried getting a code by turning ignition on/off/on for 3 times, but it won't work. Is this still possible on the '07 , or do you need a scanner?

Thanks for any help.

Jim

Check on your overhead. Mine has a "system ok" light on it. I haven't had any problems with mine. Mine is a SLT model.

EB, how did you manage to find an SLT early in production? I've only seen one on the lots and it was an order and was sold. The ST's are just too bare bones for me. In fact even the LA Auto show had only a ST for display, mine is being built in the SLT with Nav, Sirius, and U connect and is the longest 2 mo. of my life.

Sorry , I didn't mean to steal your thread Jmorse

The overhead says "systems normal" . I thought the light out feature and the condition of the particulate filter is all that would be dispalyed there. Unless I misread the owners manual.

Thanks,

Jim

Good luck on the new truck. I ordered mine on 9/26/06 and never got it 'till 1/4/07. Yes, it is a long wait!

Jim

I can check codes by putting the odometer in the trip mode and turning the key off and on three times. Mine puts a series of dashes up, 5 or 6 of them, and after 4 or 5 seconds says done just like the older ones did.

An upfitter (Texas Truck and Body) is actually the one that had ordered my truck. They had placed an order (direct from Dodge) for 10 of the cab and chassis models as soon as they became availiable set up with the options they want. They put the beds and if you want it, replacement bumpers on the trucks and then send them out to dealers to sell. They make their money off the equiptment they put on the truck, they make no profit on the truck itself, just the equiptment they put on it. I bought my last truck this way also.

I sure hope production has caught up because I launch my new company in April/May and the truck is very important because I have to outfit the tools and ladders and want to look professional for the new customers. I guess I could use my 2500 but that will show that my company is new or unprofessional. I'm looking to the CTD gods, ;) may they have mercy on my soul. :-laf

I didn't use the trip mode. I'll give it a shot. Thanks EB.

As another point of interest, the hour meter works just like all the other third gen. trucks. I now have 426 hours, 19,499 miles and that works out to 45. 77 mph, nearly exactly what my 03 had on it after 345,300 miles.

Yes, I know it's for 3rd gens only. How do you do it on a 3rd gen?

Will

Set your odometer on the mileage mode and hold in the button that you use to change it back and forth from the mileage to the trip mode for about 5 seconds or so. It will bring up your hours.
