I would assume that the engineers allowed for the c/c being under more weight ( up to around 19,500 lbs. ) Since more weight = more resistance, those trucks have lower power to save the trans. Just my theory. Put that same engine in a go-cart and you shouldn't experience any problems!

Yes, I agree. For driveline and engine duty cycle. Dodge did the same thing with their C&Cs. The C&Cs are rated 305/610 whereas the pickups are rated 350/650.

I noticed on the Power Stroke forum there was mention of glow plugs falling into the cylinders, breaking valve heads, etc. Doesn't sound like Ford spent much time on R&D.

something has to hit the GP to get it moving... usually thats a piece of a valve face.

Probably because few of the pickups are hauling anything heavy on a routine basis. It was the same with the Sick. Ohhs. The ones used as commuter trucks are still in service. The ones pulling trailers everyday suffered catastrophic failures just out of warranty.

On our 6. 7 F350 at work with 25k its starting to have issues, one of the mechanics drove it yesterday for the first time and pulled over after 5 minuets because he thought somthing was wrong, I dont think it will last much longer but well see

gave one of our techs a ride to pick up his truck from the dealerhsip... when I pulled in, one of the techs. asked if I was there for an oil change or engine swap!!!. hahahaa. . Even they are getting a sense of humor about it!!. .

Cracked bed on the '07 F-250

Sorry it took me so long to get these pics posted. I was without internet for over 3 weeks and this truck was down for some reason... I forgot what my friend told me was wrong with it.

BTW... He told me that the '11 was back in the shop for front end and T-case issues this time, but he would get pics of the cracks on it as well.

I had him send me a couple pics so you guys can see for yourselves that I wasn't just pulling your leg :rolleyes:

Hmmm... . just looking at those pictures, it appears that the headache rack may be stressing the bed at the stake pockets, and the cracks are being driven by these stresses. If the truck is driven off-highway, maybe the bed is trying to twist and the headache rack, being stiffer, is trying to hold the bed in place. Interesting... .

This was the truck that once belonged to the supervisor and was recently turned over to the fleet and I would sure hope that the boss didn't abuse it.

The '11 gasser started to show cracks around 45k and they are directly above the rear tires on both sides. I will post pics as soon as I can, but being 200+ miles away and relying on a third party (and me remembering to ask) will determine when I can post them.

Consumer Reports recent survey dropped Ford's initial quality rank to 20th. I wonder how much of that drop was related to the truck division? My son in laws company bought a bunch of '11 Ford F250s for their fleet - all gassers. Trans problems are still common. Previously they had Dodges. I guess when a truck is too reliable, you get bored with it.

Wow!!! Ya know, 10-15 years ago trucks were less expensive and made out of thicker materials that didnt tear like wet toilet paper... . Guess its just a sign of the times.

Seen bed tears like that before. Doesn't seem to prefer one brand of truck over the other. Fords, Chevys, and Dodges in our fleet at one point in time or the other. The headache rack takes the flex out of the bed. It has to give somewhere. I ran angle iron side rails to prevent the bed tear below the headache rack (stiffen the sides). The rear of the bed split instead where the upright contacts the bed.

Truck appears to have a virus or something. . !!. . Filled the truck up on Wednesday night, drove 25 miles Thursday morning and it burned between 1/4 and 1/2 tank of fuel. . !!!!!!!!!

Truck had no extra power, did not smoke, rattle, knock, etc... or have any CEL's!.

Took it in to the dealership for a p/m, they found an active code(although no CEL) for a NOX sensor failure... Tech that looked at it said he found a TSB indicating to replace it for this code, replaced sensor, seems to be better now.

Engine has been down on power on intermittent occasion, almost like the VG turbo is sticking, talked with the tech and low and behold, they are actually having this issue as well... GREAT!! WOnderful!!.

Inquired about Fords position of a failed HPFP... said its almost impossible to get warranty on one!!!.
