6.7L forum

This forum was suggested and we thought it was a great idea (quite honestly hadn't considered it yet). We haven't figured out how we are going to denote the difference between the 5. 9l and 6. 7l trucks so for now I'm using the 1/2 model year designation like we did for the 24v trucks in 98. This will obviously include the chassis cab trucks which are really early 2007 models. This forum is for the discussion of the engine and transmission combinations that are specific to the new trucks. Have fun.

Choices......

Howdy. I am new here, so please forgive and advise if I post this incorrectly. I am not new to Dodge diesels, having bought my 1st in June of 1993, a W250. That truck was disposed of in August 2005, with only 72,000 miles. Replaced by current, a single rear wheel Ram 3500 SLT 4wd Quad Cab, silver, just turned 8,000 miles today. Nice truck, does everything I need, although I miss the white color.



I now have an opportunity (my favorite word) to sell my current truck to the corporation. It would still remain my personal truck, the company would just pick up payments and insurance. OR..... trade mine in, and in exchange for the equity I have in my existing rig, buy an '07 5. 9 WHITE dually Quad Cab, which I would prefer and should have bought in the first place. This needs to take place before January 1st. Which brings me to the question..... Should I buy a new 5. 9 and take the tax break this year? Or should I hold out, pay the tax man, and wait for the 6. 7? Or just keep the 05 and call it good? My business partner would much rather we did something before the end of the year, as the tax savings benefits us equally. What do you folks think?

I'd say keep the 05, but if you want to upgrade to a dually, get the 06..... ther'll be tax reasons to upgrade in 08 as well and the 6. 7 will be proven by then.

Newby, so I may say/ask something dumb,... but:



I signed up for this "number 1 resource" because I believed it would be just that,... a resource for info re. the '07 3500 w/ 6. 7L CTD I am about to buy.

I could swear that before the sign-up I had seen more than the pitiful number of posts now shown on the topic in this thread (5 posts, all except mine from '06).



Can anyone tell me what's up(?) with this non-discussion?

Your looking at the default thread view which is probably the last 10 days. Down at the bottom of the list of threads you see a box that says "from the" - change that to say "the beginning" and you'll see all the threads in this forum. Keep in mind that the '07 2500 & 3500's w/6. 7l have just started shipping recently so there isn't much out there yet. This thread is just the introduction to this forum. The 6. 7l forum has 106 threads and 1588 posts in it right now although the vast majority of those will be about the 6. 7l in the 3500 chassis cab. I don't think that anyone has received a 2500 or 3500 6. 7l yet.

Who determines the designations, !st gen. , 2nd gen, 3rd gen, etc? Why not designate the 6. 7 in the new Dodges the 4rth gen ?

The editor of the magazine designates the generations which goes by the body style. Engine changes have not been designated a new generation, for example in 98 there was a change from the 12v mechanical engine to the 24v electronic engine but it was still the same body style so it continued as a second generation. The rest of the truck is the same as the '03-'07 so all of that stays in the 3rd generation non-engine forum. The first half of '07 models have the 5. 9l, the second half the 6. 7l - Dodge didn't even give the trucks a new model year. Generation changes are for complete redesigns which is estimated to hit the streets in 2010.

Steve, I took delivery of my 6. 7 L 2500 QC June 02, 2007 which now has 28,233 Km on the odometer.

all of you guys think the 6. 7 is so great, what about diesel in the crankcase,what about the plugged dpf,what about the bad fuel mileage, 7. 8 to 9. 2 if you drop it off a mountain. blown up 6. 7 plus turbos, spend more time in shop that it is on the road. they said they built a semi out of a 1 ton truck,you think that is a big joke?plus leaving you stranded every where. wait till you try to trade off. out of over $50,000. 00 truck, had about 6 mo, offered me $25,000. 00 trade in!! you talk about a real big turd. put this in your pipe and smoke it. nothing like getting stabbed in the back for owning a dodge. . ANOTHER BIG TURD

I traded my 04 ford for this dodge and they gave me $32,000. 00 for it and i drove it 3 years

Well to start off with Adoty I am sorry you have a bad truck Get over it:{ I have owned several Dodges over the years and love them I Did Not Buy my New Dodge for it's great Mpg I bought it cause it will flat out Haul Butt I just did a trip over this weekend and with close to 8000 lbs on trailer or more got 14. 5 and Better going faster then speed limit so if you are so happy with your old Turd {ford } go buy it back and quit complaining yes theses trucks should and are capable of getting up into 20 mpg range but they aren't and there is nothing we can do about it till Our Gov Heads pull there heads out of there rearend and wake up Oo.

well if you payed over $50000. 00 for your new truck then i can see why they gave you $32000. 00 for your ford you payed to much money for your new truck.

I think you should go out and buy a new ford and then you sound like it would make you happy but don't think that there not having any problems they are

you said in another post that you where getting 18. 9 mpg. here you are saying that you are getting 8 mpg.



You should be careful on what you say because people here remember.

I am new to the Diesel World, New Dodge 2009 3500. I have a question about oil change intervals. I have changed the oil and filter twice. Both times the "Change Oil" message came on at approximately 2400 miles. I drive 17 miles to work and two to four short trips during the day. All I can find says the Oil change is determined by the duty cycle. Is my short, 2400 miles, interval due to my driving ??? Any thoughts appreciated.

Yes, your short trips do not allow the engine to obtain operating temperature. You will most likely start getting the P2262 code. The engines need to get thoroughly warmed up and kept there for a while to keep every thing burned off and happy. The grocery getter's are having the most problems with the turbo sooting and restricted DPFs.
