Got truck back fri. , with the #6 plate and 3000GSK installed. I am suitably impressed. Towed my S-10 pickup home from there and next day took a 350m trip (empty), I can say for sure. . wow. .

The torque from about 1100 rpm on up to ? 2600? is very much improved and it will spool up to 3000 no problem. It's not noisy, (In fact since I had just gotten the valve adj 2 days prior, if anything, it's quieter), and very little smoke. I told my shop guy that I didn't want smoke. (I know some of you guys are snickering in the back there). . So he said that he has 'tuned it back' a bit. I assume he means adjusted the plate back just a tad to keep the smoke down. He said he could make it faster if I didn't mind a 'little' smoke. .

Heck. . what's a little smoke? (Uh Oh. . I think I caught it!!). . Anyway. . I was expecting a good increase in power, but wasn't sure how well the 3000 GSK would actually help. . Oh Yeah. . makes a WORLD of difference. Just what I was looking for.

I must say that I had been leaning toward 'starting' with a #10 because of all my reading here and terms like 'forgiving' and 'mild' and 'good fuel curve', because I really don't need more noise and smoke, but letting them talk me into the #6, I'm not the least bit sorry. . In fact, I think I may have been disappointed with the #10. . (Hmmm. wonder what a #5 is like?). . (Uh. . Oh. . there it goes again)(and there goes my wallet. . ).

The shop guy said they have some 'mild' performance injectors (w/ 6 holes), but that they would make more smoke, but I'm thinking that a little more air, first, might be in order. . OK so WHAT'S NEXT ??

HX 35/40 ?? I really don't want to lose much accel with too large a turbo. . (I drive mostly empty), How about a boost elbow? and maybe one of those 'Big Head' turbo controllers? I DO plan to buy an ATS 3 piece ex man (and drill for the pre-turbo pyro), and I'd also like to buy a new turbo at the same time , but That might be 6 months. . perhaps some milder first step? Keep the advice coming and Thanks. . I'm a happy camper. . John G Oo.

John,

What have you got and what have you looked into with regaurds toward a clutch? Eventually, if you're stock on the factory piece, You will be able to smoke (slip) the factory clutch with that 6 plate and much more power. I dare say if you slide that plate foward it will kill your clutch by itself, before you get to add injectors or a turbo.

I'm glad to see that you are pleased, with the advice here and with your new found mods.

You bet. . I'm on to that one. I actually just bought a used SB Rally clutch from a fellow here, for $120. A fair price, I thought, after discussing it with Peter at SB. It has 9000m on it and was a bit smoked, but I emailed the pics to peter and he said to ship it directly to them and they would re-face the pres plate and put new meat on the clutch disc and it would be like new. . All for $50 plus shipping. . All in all, a very good deal, I think. I'll have it back for a total of less than $240. . My 5 spd needs some work, (hard to get into reverse and other syncro's getting a tiny bit weak), and I plan on doing the neccess mods to it as well as an overhaul, later this year, so I'll inst. the clutch then. . Meantime, I don't tow much and don't race, so I'll try not to smoke my OEM clutch. . (Although, my right foot does seem to weigh more now that the mods are in. . How come?). . arghh. . now I are one. . (Smoke 'em if you got 'em. . ) (What's happening to me?)... ... ... ... ... ... !?!?!? Now'days, I look at my piece of S*** Chev S-10 "around town" truck, and can't bear to get in it!

OOPS

My Doctors Orders are to stay the hell outta my truck. . and it's killing me.

I'm in about the same place power wise too. I've done all I can power wise until I can afford to have my transmission built. Until then I can only hope. . and it's hard to hold off. :)

I'm wondering what these injectors are specifically.

Congrats on the new mods.

That's all I know, so far. . That they are made from stock ones and that they have 6 holes. . I ask more this week. . JG
