Been reading about fastcoolers for 6 speed trannys. What are they?

Seems there are many good endorsements, what will it do for mine? My truck just went out of warranty( 36k+), so I'm changing all the driveline fluids, starting with the 6 spd. transmission. My truck is a 1999, I've had no problems with it but feel positive about regular fluid changes regardless of what DC says. Little help here please. Thanks.

PS: I've ordered the PTO filter from Geno's, but they are backordered.

:) I ordered my set today with the lexan covers. They fit on the PTO covers and give you 2 more qts of fluid. They also have magnets in them to catch metal particulate from gear wear. I got my truck on 3 July of 2000 and now have 57,000 on it. I will top 62,000 before it is 2 years old. These coolers will keep the transmission 45 to 50 degrees cooler on long hi-speed runs. Cooler oil means less wear and longer trouble free life. ;)

A Fastcooler is just an extended PTO cover that holds 1 qt of additional oil, it is also mildly "finned" to help dissipate heat. I have never heard of a lexan cover, normally you reuse the PTO cover. I put one Fastcooler on the driver side of my 5600 and a PTO filter from Genos Garage on the passenger side of the 5600. The pto filter uses a cartrige (sp?) to filter the oil as it's thrown off the PTO drive gear. Also, I used a magnetic drain plug off a NV-3500 (Dakota V8) as a fill plug for the 5600, the Dakota drain plug has a strong magnet atached. If you install either one, toss the gaskets (mine leaked) and use silicone to seal them.

Several of the guys here are reporting good service ( 100k miles) from Amsoil 5W-30 motor oil in the 5600, I'm a coward and am waiting for my warranty to run out before switching to synthetic motor oil.
