Who is Blumenthal HD?? No one and I mean no one has posted a G56 failure on two Dodge Diesel web sites or on any general diesel web site I have visted yet. Is Blumenthal HD a Dodge/D. C. dealer?
So far the only people to report any failure of a G-56, are people that don’t have one. Eventually they are going to fail, as ALL the other transmissions have.
The clutch also will fail, given enough horsepower and a heavy enough load. I expect to have my clutch to fail, as I would any clutch to fail with the level of horsepower that I will eventually get to.
There are a lot of people that just don’t like change. When the ’94 came out, a lot of people, including me, said “ that truck is butt ugly and you’ll never see one in my driveway”. Well, I really liked my ’97. The only reason I bought the ’05 was, it has a higher GCVWR, better brakes, more hp, more doors, ect.
The Getrag’s, the NV4500’s, the NV5600’s have failed and are going to continue to fail.
The G-56 will also fall into the same pattern. Some from the lack of maintenance, some from abuse and some from defective parts. The point is, NO component, electrical or mechanical, as a group, is 100% reliable.
I would rather drive my Dodge with any component they choose to put in the Dodge, than have a truck, as the Ford owners themselves say, “it’s a roll of the dice as to weather you get a good one or not”.
