Since there are not many options for tips for the 5 inch exhausts, I put together a nice 6 inch chrome tip, with the help of a local Truck parts source.

The shortest 6 inch stack is 3 ft. long, so I used a chrome 5 to 6 inch adapter, and cut down the stack to make a really nice, BIG

6 inch tip with a slant cut.

After having the 5 inch tip on there for some time, it started looking small, so a bigger tip was in order.

Ok, another angle. The tip really didn't change the exhaust note, at least not noticebly. The sound is a deep tone, that is very quiet inside the cab. The key is removing the low and high RPM resonance.

bassani [sp?] exhaust systems makes a 6" tip for a 4" pipe iirc. it is included in their exhaust system... i am going by memory so it may be faulty info... will search net for it though. .

yep they make it... http://www.bassani.com/default.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.2003powerstroke6l this link shows the 6. 0 pos engine exhaust system but the tip is there too. . it says it is avalable as an option on other exhaust systems...

Just reading the your post while waiting for the pictures to come up I thought it would look a little funny, boy was I wrong. That looks sweet!

Yes Fred, how do we remove that nasty sound , is this what GB is running? Hard to tell but is that the stock spare still up in there?? Mark

Greg's is a slightly different primary muffler. His sound is slightly different.

Yes, buying 6 was enough, I'm not worried about flats, though.

5" to 6"tainless tip

Greetings.

I would love to have a stainless 5"inlet to 6" polished outlet. So far All I have been able to find is Chrome which is nice but does not work up in the Northeast with the road salt. Been there... done that. Heck I'll be happy with a 5" stainless inlet outlet:{

Got home from work today to find this huge box laying at my door.

5PM I open box. By 5:25 it was installed on my truck. 6" chrome tip from Fred Swanson at Desert Diesel Parts. Easy install and a great product.

Fred,

Your right, This thing is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You da man!!

Greg, you bummed me out by getting the Mega "sewer" pipe before me. . :D :D I tried to PM Fred, however, his MAIL BOX IS FULL! Throw me a bone, before I get the scoop from Fred. Is it a clamp on, or weld job, and did it come with a reducer, and how long "length" is it? I already know its big, bad, beautiful, and tubular man, (Cali talk).

Steve

Loose the Cali talk dude:D This thing is "Agro" "Mega" Humungous... ... ... ... :D

It is a weld on reducer from 6" to 5" with a clamp on tip. The tip was three feet long and I cut it down a bit. The install was real easy and it has a great sound. I think it realy brings back the old sound I had on My bombed out 2001. Now I need smoke!!!!!!

You can call Fred direct (623) 910-9575. His mom and dad are here for a week so I am sure he will call back asap.
