My head is at the machine shop and they are installing the new valve springs.

They called and said that the new valve springs are 2. 75 tall and the old ones are 2. 375 tall. Is this normal height of old springs and the 60# springs. They are kinda of concerned of the pressure of the new springs.

Add to that the old springs were compressed for many years. Even new 40 lb springs would be taller. (I think):-laf

Yes, the 60 psi springs are a lot longer, and also a barrel shape. They are intended to reliably hold 60 psi of exhaust backpressure with an exhaust brake. They give more seat pressure and more valve-open pressure than the stock 35 psi springs. You can use them without any problems; Cummins approves them for use in 12-valve engines.

Thanks Joe that makes me feel alot better. This morning when I picked the head up they were still questioning me on the spring pressures.

Thank you

Casey
