Having one heck of a time getting it into get at a stop almost like the syncronizers are not right. Doesnt happen all the time but enough to **** me off. work it into 3rd let clutch out then she will go right in anyone else heard of this, have 18000 after 6 months same transmission oil. Any suggestions out there. Other than that she runs like a bat out of hell... .

I had problems with mine going into 2nd at a red light. Had the dealer replace transmission under

warrenty. Seems to be doing it again though after about 3000 miles. Whats this about the pilot brg.

could this couse the problem?

Mine got so bad I had to whut off eng. , put it in gear and then start eng. Van Haisley told me to clean the original grease out of new pilot brg. , and re-grease it with synthetic grease, and not set for a long time at stops with it in gear, and clutch in. This is hard on pilot brgs. Since then they have replacement brgs. , and kevlar bushings. Mine went out at 29K, have 125K now and no problems, but I never set at light with it in gear and holding in the clutch.

Fart into Fourth

Mine still wants to not go into fourth when the engine is cold. Sounds like a bad case of gas if I'm not extra careful with it. But 5 minutes later It's hunky dory when evrythings warm. I'm thinking about changing to Mobil 1 synthetic, anybody else still having a little trouble like that?

10k mi

Mine has always been tricky to get into 2nd gear (from a stop) on occasion. It just acts up once in a while - I have found that if I run it into 2nd before stopping it helps. I don't let it idle in 2nd with the clutch in, usually just put it in neutral. I have 53K on it now and it does seem to be loosening up a bit. Maybe it will be perfect at 250K!

6 sp woooo's

Heard of this problem ,before d/c 6 speeds went into production. which as all know production was delayed, pushed back, ect. Ford has the same trouble, put shift is a different pattern(rev) same mfg??????????????????!! Say Rockwell venture ??? If not you might say it is a patten infringment Keeping your nut in tack is easy(5sp) syn'ro trouble's have to be engnier'ed out. .

Sorry. .

Might add it is not the lube. .

Case in point . . why does 3-4-5-6 work????????????????

gear jammin blues(newbie)

I am new here and this post made me finally decide to join. I also have the same problem on my 01. 5. I had 4300 miles on mine when it went. Is there an upgraded bearing/bushing or is this going to be a common problem?

since i posted this question i have really started paying attention and trying to pinpoint what is causing it. there is nothing consistant with this problem. sometimes i can sit with clutch in and put it in any gear i want other times i have the problem with nothing lining up. i just cant fiqure it out. what is everyone else using in there transmission. any additives and where can i find the manual transmission filters and will adding one void my warranty??

Sometimes just good old fashioned double-clutchin' will work wonders. I agree it is probably the pilot bearing going, though.

Input up grade bearing

Is there a up-grade in-put bearing/bushing on the market for D-GM-F- Yes call -219-256-5064

I ran across it by fluke ,that was over 600,000 mi back and it is still in place. MY understanding is this is to be standard in 2002 But i can't check as i don"t own one>>>>

2 out of 4 new HO 6sp we got this past spring grind WHEN COLD (below freezing) in 3 and sometimes 4th. No other gears. Goes away when warm and was gone most of the summer.

Back again with 20K miles on one truck.

Took to DC and request fix. Star said fix is revise main shaft with parts (??). Will have one truck try the fix.

Would rather have new 6sp. Seems this option is not allow by STAR anymore.

Will see!

I don't think the 3 gear grind has anything to do with pilot bearing. It is more of a gear lube (temp related) and syncronizer issue.

It is not the pilot bearing. I just had my new South Bend Clutch put in today... new pilot bearing and all. Well, it is still hard to get into gear at a stoplight sometimes.

(don't) grind me a pound

My six stick doesn't grind, it's just hard to get into the gears. Acts like synchros. The temp doesn't seem to matter. In fact, heavy city traffic makes it worse. It is in the shop now, and I asked my dealer if they have had pilot bearing problems, and he said not on the Dodges, but the Fords have been a nightmare. I haven't even worked my truck yet (4300k), whats gonna happen when I run out of warranty? :(

IMO... . If you have a good shifting 6sp, it will stay that way. From the handfull of 5sp and 6sp I have been around, how every they shift new, they will shift like that 100K miles later.

That is why poor shifting 6sp will NOT breakin. They will be poor shifting transmission until they are REPLACED!

I think this 6sp "issue" is limited to a very few in the big picture. Like most things in life, you only here from the ones that are not happy not the ones that got a great shifting 6sp!

Mine shifts wonderfully, what bugs me is growl when it's hot and my revs are over 2300... wondering if I should take it to the dealer to get it looked at, as it's hard to duplicate the problem... drive over 200 miles @ 75mph + and hit a nice grade and it will growl towards the top... empty.

Plus my clutch now slips without any BOMBing:mad:

6 spd Blues

Mine has grinded 3rd & 4th since I bought 6 mos. ago. Almost 7,000 miles now and still no change. I drive 99% of the time empty and this is a major pain! I took it back to the dealer about a week after purchasing it and DC said that this was "normal" and I should give it some time to break in. What a crock. Because of this problem, my love for 'ol grey is deminishing every day! Everyone who rides in my truck looks at me like I'm crazy as I shift gears... it can be pretty embarrassing. Hoping for a cure.....

sticky shifter??

The 6 speed in my truck has not been a problem. However I changed trans fluid after the first year and it now shifts much smoother. I know that mother mopar says the trans fluid does not need changing. But for me it will be changed every year.
