Now that the Jasper reman 7. 3 idi is running the '91 Ford Super Duty down the road I would like to fix a nagging problem.
The belt that goes around the crank/water pump/alternator dances like crazy on this truck. I have tried new belts, put a new pulley on the alternator, carrying a lucky rabbits foot, etc. , but nothing has worked so far. The belt is pretty tight as I can't turn the alternator fan with two fingers (with the engine OFF of course!). The only things I haven't replaced are the crank and water pump pulleys. Since the reman came with a new water pump that eliminates those bearings. I have been told these animals are notorious for throwing the alternator belt and mine does not buck the trend.
Does anyone know of a fix? Possibly an idler pulley that can be added? I don't mind carrying around an extra belt and tools, but of course it is the "back" belt. Plus, employees drive the truck and rarely look at the alt and temp gauges let alone put a belt on correctly.
Any help????
TIA!!!
