Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, just read a few papers including the Bosch "technical instruction" books, I'm geekly like that.

According to Bosch, the "form" tolerance for certain aspects of machining the CR nozzles is 2 microns, or half a ten-thousanth, or 4000 metal atoms. The play between the needle and nozzle body is less than 1 micron- it's hard to imagine how small that is. For comparison, the thickness of a human hair is 60 microns.

Kerma I understandwhat you mean by sloppyness (now), the technology is in the nozzel and its material but there is other stuff up inside that you do too for the survival of the whole injector. The common-rail one's are more sensitive to things because of the high pressure and no room for crude to go through.

My point exactly. :)

Everyone I've talked to says it is impossible to get 708hp on a 3gen with a stock CP-3 pump, the rail gets drained, it simply can't supply the volume. Now if DonM is actually getting a result that no one else has (yet), there must be some trick he discovered with the some part of the injector other than the nozzle. Maybe some kind of return line restriction, keep more fuel in the nozzle, make it all go through the spray holes, less leak-by? That leakage also lubricates and cools the nozzle, dunno if there's a potential tradeoff in longevity or some other area. Of course this is all idle speculation, I could be way off base, but it's the first thing that comes to mind.

Anyone know what the stock fuel flow rating is at full power for 305/555 or 325/600 something like "x" mg/r? THat can be compared with the flow rating of the CP-3, it should indicate what HP is possible.

Of course, there's always PROPANE...

Kerma,

You make some good points about the fuel return. If Don M can make the 700hp mark or high 600's with the stock HPCR, TST, pressure box, twins only that would be great. Although you would think he would get a patent to prevent the copycat's and get his product on the market. If that hp level is obtainable with his EDM's he will make a fortune. I hope they are available soon. I am tired of waiting for the Juice box, and now it looks like I will be waiting for some of Don's big Edm's.

I am skeptical until the claims are verified, in any case. Dyno plots can be like statistics, if you know what I mean, like Mark Twain said.
