After talking to the dealer yesterday, I was informed the only way to backup the address book and other information like music, the system has to be is service mode.

The dealer has to use the scan tool to put the system into this state.

This option should be a menu selection so any of us can back up the data onto an USB memory stick.

Thank you for the info. Does this add another button in the menu? My truck has to go infor some work and since they will be in there with the scan tool I want to know what to ask for... .

Tryingit,

When you have the truck in for service you can backup the system. The dealer has to put the truck into a service state using the scan tool. After the truck is in this state than the 730n can be backed up onto a USB drive.

When the dealer has complete the work he/she will take the the truck out of service mode and the backup option is no longer there.

Took my truck in today to have the radio repalced and I watch the tech do the backup of the data files.

The truck hasto be in service mode and it will display that across the the top of the radio display.

Select menu

Than manage HDD

Next select backup hard disk drive (When the tech makes this selction it will backup the data from the harddisk to the USB drive and (delete all files from the hard drive))

repalced the radio and went back into service mode and restored the drive from the usb.

It works.

The only thing you will have to do is pair your phone and reset your presets fro the radio.

Thre seem to be some problems with the new radios locking up not powering down etc. Sometimes it would lockup and than reset it self. The presets would go blank than come back.

The new navigation unit stop guiding after begin on for 8 hours. I open the front panorama to insert a CD and the back of the display was very hot. It appears this units have a thermal issue. When I get back home in week I will have the unit replaced and and ask the dealer to check with Dodge about issues with this unit

My unit is still acting up also. It does the "updating channels" out of the blue every once in awhile, sometimes three or four time in a row. It also looses the presets.

Stick

I called the dealer and he's going to order. Another radio. The other effects I have seen is that the clock will be off the radio will shut down and reset
Most likely you need to have your dealer swap it out

Mine updates the satellite stations everytime I start the truck. I took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I called Chrysler, got a case number and two days later they called back and told me they told the dealer to order me a new radio. The dealer called me two hours later and confirmed they had a radio on order.

It seems to be working wiht out any problems. After talking to the tech's there maybe a thermal issue with this units. If you have you truck running for long periods and the units always on.

Press the open button to install a CD and feel how hot the back of the screen feels. You could keep your coffee warm.
