Competition Challange to race a 7.3PSD, will I win?

Competition 6.0 Pulls a wheelie?

Actually an R6 engine would live at 16k for a long time I'm quite sure. I raced an FZR400 in the late 80's and I would run for an hour non-stop between 12,000 and 14,000 rpm and ran two seasons without a rebuild on that engine. The only time it ran below 10,000 was when I was warming it up and when I was sitting on the starting grid waiting for the starter to flag the race off. That was 17 years ago.

Please elaborate. I'm fully aware of what's currently available and I know of one truck that has been above 7 a few times due to various pump related issues. However that is pushing it as far as rod bolts are concerned. Also I'm aware that there is a big difference between slowly revving there and being spiked there without a load. There are motorcycle engines avail. that have a 16,000 rpm rev limiter (R6), sure the engine is balanced to say something like 18,000 or so, but will it live at 16 very long? no! Not to mention things like the alternator (if equipped) oil pump or injection pump. I never said it wasn't possible, I said it was unrealistic. Baby steps. I'd like my lawnmower to go 200mph , and it could if it was being towed by something going 200mph. :-laf

Do your research you will find them.

That's amazing considering that at 16,000rpm each piston is making one cycle close to 266 times a second. Impressive even if the stroke is only 1. 67in If my 4th grad math is correct. (thanks Mr. Garrison you too Mr. Hat!)

266x60=15960

Hey like I said good luck Jeremy, it's better to be capable of going 8k and running 7k then the other way around.

I know balanced crank, roller cam blah blah all been done. Not at 8k! Like I said before look at the pics Bobcat posted in #20 and tell me what part (besides the chunk of block) is laying on the track. So unless you know of a company that is currently selling rod studs... ... .

I'm beginning to believe more of this

STeve is right on the R6. I had an R6 the first year it came out. It needed at least 10K to make any power. It was sweet though in the upper RPM. Nobody woudl beleive me when I told them redline on the tach was around 15. 5K if I remember right. Mine saw 16K probably more times than it shoud have. LOL Jeremy who does your engine parts??

I had a 2000 R6 and currently have a 03 R1 and yes I know they will go that high (15k for the R1) and boy do they sound good when they do. :D

It has been awhile, but the early R1's didn't rev that high did they? I would have been better getting the cbr600, it was a better street bike, but the yamaha blue was what sold the bike for me.

Yeah look at the track, Stock Rod bolts FAILED. Not looking for Rod studs, I am going to a completley different rod with a much bigger/stronger bolt. The balanced crank performed as we wanted it to as did the roller cam. Like Partsman said, do your research and see what is out there. Do a search for phantom parts. :)

That is too awesome. I plan on using rods for a cummings. Got to be special since they add the g in there. I don't really ever plan to be at 8000 with the motor, I prefer 5600 and under. If the drivetrain is as solid as I hope, we should never see 8. But in this sport, stuff happens and we occasionally do see 8. I will build the motor with what is available and go from there. I had a good run with stock rods.

Life begins above 15,000

What do you mean v's love rpm sleddy? :-laf

Jeremy, I took the "8,000 will be normal" as in you're going to try and run it at 8, in which I call BS. But I understand what your saying, now that you've clarified your goals. Now if you want 8,000 all day, buy a turbine and burn diesel. :D

that sucks you broke your truck, jeremy is one of the most friendliest people in pulling i have ever met, i have met some of these guys who act like they are famous just because they had the money to put together a truck. but when i won the pull in springfield jeremy came up and congratulated me while some of the others looked my truck over and one threw his cell phone after my truck was teched

if you have the money anything is possible. if a v10 Formula one car can run at 20,000rpm's constantly a little six cylinder could run 8k just make all of the parts out of titanium and inconel and make the block and head out of billet steel.

...

whatever... that's about 6000 r's TOPS when it went "rooooom" . . show me PROOF of purchase bubba... IE:photo of Tach when it pegged. . word of mouth doesn't suffice. Piers one time mentioned they will go at 5300-5800 somewhere... 7700??!! is that the weight of your midwestern girlfriend? :-laf It's funny how you east/midwest guys inflate all your numbers "Oh it makes 2000 hp/5000 ft. lbs and revs 7000+ rpm,and I do donuts in the Hardee's parking lot on saturday nights" LOL :-laf jeez. . yeah the fish was "THIS BIG"! :p

I spend years trying to get the West Coast and East Coast to play together and all it takes is one Crack Baby named "Cummnzpowr" to come on here an muck it up !!!!!
