If all goes well I may be getting a '15 CC LB DRW 4x4 at the end of summer.

So what am I not getting with the 5" radio vs the 8.4" other than nav which is no big deal and the smaller back up camera view? What iPhone integration other than phone and music.

Also, what does the 7" EVIC give me that I can't get with the 3.5" and an Edge Insight.

I'm having a hard time finding a truck with a front bench seat and the 8.4" Radio & 7" EVIC and an Aisin (373 or 410) on top of that. Even the 68RFE (410) with those few option together is rare. I've shaved off so many things I wanted because apparently bench seats are less and less the more you add. If I get a truck with a color I even barely like I'm going to be lucky. I'm going to hunt and pounce on a deal and am willing to make a 12 hour drive from Mobile for the right truck.

Thanks

My 5.0 is adaquit, but I'd prefer the 8.4, with or without the NAV. It's just to plain and less ability, but if you want value for your buck, the 5.0 can do most of what the 8.4 can do.

Build a truck like you want on the RAM site and note the price , then hit the button that lists trucks in your area. Expand to 250+ and at the top of the list is a sort button. Sort by price and then go to that price range and start looking.

I have the opposite problem. I want buckets and the full console. Snoking

The 5.0 is a full feature radio and you can make the back up camera display in it with a little wiring and configuration work. There are several write up's on the other forums. The 8.4 is a much nicer display, especially with the back up camera, and does have some more features over the 5.0. It all comes down to how much you want to spend. It seems like everything you add cost at least $500, and it adds up quickly.

My wife has the 2012 Town & Country so I guess the 5.0 Uconnect will be similar to hers which basically is a radio with the backup camera (that controls the rear entertainment). I like tech so I really want the 8.4 probably for the climate control alone. But if the deal is right I'll stick an iPad up there and turn the thermostat knob by hand when it gets hot as needed.

I've did the Ram Trucks shopping tool thing and 200+ miles a bunch of times with the Big Horn and Laramie selected. I'd say 90%+ of Big Horns and 98% of Laramies come with buckets. Last night a viewed over a hundred window stickers and all had the $250 & $500 bucket seat option. I'm going to add the SLT to the mix. But with all my random dealer searches there aren't near as many mid range trim packages on the lots as the Longhorns.

Do all the 8.4s have climate control

The dealers have a much better search feature than what you have available,it may be worth it to drop into a dealer and let them help you in your search

How do you get the backup camera to display on the 8.4 screen? I didn't think it would.

if you have the cargo camera (camera in the third brake light) then you can not get the tailgate camera in the 8.4. If you do not have the cargo camera the tailgate camera will show up in the 8.4. No there is no way of switching which camera views in stock form unless you buy a lock pic.

Definetly the 8.4, backup camera is great and real clear, just got mine and SIL has the 5.0 and there is no comparison, Monte

Thanks for the input. I'll probably have a handful more questions as I get closer to getting the truck. I sure do like being in full possession of that pretty multicolored title to the truck I have now. But we want to go country wide with the 5th wheel and I'd feel better with one of these new DRWs. And from what Im seeing I can probably get a good price for my 3rd gen (61k) which will help knock some of the sting out.
