Fluids Question

I know this is a stupid question but where is it and what does it do???? (outside of the obvious) I've not even seen mine so it must be well hidden, missing or just not that important to my truck.

Not a stupid question at all. It's located under the turbo on the passenger side of the engine.

Engine coolant flows in and out of the end connections, and transmission fluid flows in and out of the connections toward the center.

It transfers heat from one system to the other. For instance, in a cold place the engine might warm up sooner than the transmission. The transmission fluid would be warmed by the engine coolant and be in the proper temperature range for the transmission.

Also, if you're towing a large load up a hill in the summer, the transmission will heat up, but the engine thermostat should keep the engine coolant at 170. In this case, the heat would flow from the trans fluid to the engine coolant and (hopefully) be transferred to the air by the radiator.

Is that sufficient? Yell if it isn't.
