iam into my 93 at work we have a 95 that runs poor , no perf. i think a past employee messed w/ pump and turned it down

whats the wat to turn up fuel on it?

You can't turn a P7100 pump up or down with a screw like the pre 1994 trucks. The only way to change the fueling is by changing the torque plate in the AFC. The stock plate can be moved towards the front of the engine for more power but if the housing has not been opened it wasn't done. There is a break off screw to eliminate tampering that requires some special effort to remove to get to the torque plate. If he changed pump timing it could be a problem. It's too involved to discuss timing procedure here, you need a service manual from Dodge or Cummins and it's not a job for beginners. Many things cause poor performance from dirty air or fuel filters to pump timing or other fuel delivery problems. You definitely need a manual before you start doing things other than normal maintenance and looking for leaks etc.

First thing you need...

is a set of gauges. This way you can monitor the engine. It's cheap insurance.

I'd first clean out the fuel pre filter,(maybe do the fuel filter at the same time, and air filter if it's been a while) especially if you dont know the last time it was done.

Check the boost gauge. I dont know what the 95's run, but I'm sure someone will chime in. If the boost is low, check for leaks in the intake plumbing.

I'd assume something like this before messing with the timing.

Moving the stock plate forward will give you a few HP. I'm guessing around 20? You should do the gauges before messing with the plate.

A common cause of low power on an older truck is a stretched throttle cable not allowing full throttle. Have someone floor the truck and check to see if the linkage on the pump and be rotated more.

Look at the top of the pump. You'll see where a boost line goes into the back of it. The top part is the AFC housing. There are four bolts holding it on. One is under the injector lines and hard to get to. You might have to remove the intake tubing also. Remove the boost line from the back with a 13mm wrench. You should then be able to pull the afc housing off the top of the pump. You will be able to clearly see the camplate. Loosen the two screws and slide it forward.

If one of the four bolts that holds the AFC housing on is tamperproof, the pump hasn't been turned down.

You can also loosen the starwheel for quicker response, but watch out for heavy smoke. The starwheel is inside the AFC housing you just removed. There is a big allen head plug on top that needs to be removed. Rotate the top of the starwheel towards the motor for quicker response. Don't be afraid to move it 20 or 30 clicks at a time.

This should cause a significant power increase. If these directions don't help, you have other problems that need to be diagnosed.
