I've been waiting and now it's time to do it right...

I’ve got a stock '96 2500 auto with Banks Powerpack exhaust and 3:54 rear with 130k miles. It's a daily driver but on weekends it hauls my 2800lb Lance slide in camper and 17' Boston Whaler. Empty mileage runs around 22mpg and loaded it's around 17mpg.

What I’m not happy with are the trany shift points (seems to up-shift a bit too soon under load), the soft up-shifts and lack of power below 2100rpm and above 2800rpm. (the transmission is starting to slip from 1st to 2nd)

I'm not looking for a 1/4 mile racer, rather a dependable hauler that allows me to climb hills without feeling like I’m reaching the limit of power. I'm thinking I need a transmission upgrade and converter, injectors and possibly some fuel pump mods but I’m not sure where to start or who to contact. I'd prefer to have someone perform the upgrades for me (Maryland area?) but I’m more than able to handle most thing myself.

Thanks in advance!!!

Talk to Andy or Doug at

www.smokindiesel.com.

I have not dealt with them personally,

but have heard great things about them.

Thanks for your replies! I contacted Andy at Smokindiesel and he returned my email within an hour. Impressive! As for boosting my line pressure, how much should i boost it? Wouldn't it be better to go the convertor and valve body route? I guess i need to determine how HP increase i want before spending money on the transmission. Of course more is better! But how much can i get away with without having to modify the engine itself? I'm seeing 370HP injectors but what else would i need to do to run them?

Thanks!

Brian

Since you have the 180 pump you will need to address a perfomance fuel plate and larger valves( or something like that will have to research, Hemi-Dart has experience with this) on the pump.

As I understand it if you put larger injectors on, they don't help much unless fuel has been added on the 160 and 180 pumps.
