She ran fine for 230,000 miles, only thing I have replaced is both batteries and a lift pump. I came in from a 2 hr trip last night parked it, got up this morning and it just turns over. Any thoughts????

does it try to fire at all well any way have somone try and start it while you watch to see if the fuel shut off solenoid lifts up on the fuel vavle the solenoid is in front of the fuel filter and attached to the fuel pump if it doesn't lift you can tie it up with a coat hanger to start it and undo it to stop the truck or I used a old style choke on off lever for an old car carb. till I got my new on and TST product was the cheapest I found for a new fuel shut solenoid

Why did you replace the lift pump? It is very seldom the problem on a 12 valve. I suspect that you have an air leak somewhere so the lift pump appeared to be bad. It can't pump air.

thanks, you were right on spot, the arm doesn't lift, I turn the key on and push it up and it stays up by itself and runs fine, I have one on the way (ebay $135) thanks again... ...

Be sure to check the rubber fuel hoses above the starter. Try pumping the primer a dozen times. If it starts, the hoses need to be replaced.

your welcome on the help I had it happen to me driving down the road I'm glad my misfortune could help someone in need. check the relay to since your solenoid stays up once you push it up the relay is on the firewall just left of brake fluid resevior it is the right relay of the two .

The relay is most likely the problem. The fuel solenoid seldom fails. Check the relay and the blue wire on the positive battery post. It is a fuseable link. Your '97 may not have that wire. If not, then there is a fuse for it.
