Well guys I have a bit of a dilemma, which truck should I consider? I found a 97 C/C 12V 5spd long box 4x4 with 115,00 miles bone stock for 15,900. 00. It was used to pull a gooseneck trailer weight unknown. The 98 Q/C 12V 5pd long box with 168,000 miles and some modes and same money. Gauges, 4" stainless exhaust turbo back, kdp killed. The quad cab would be mice with my kids. I don't know what I should do. Thank you all for your opinions and answers.

Thanks,

Randy

i would go for the 98 any day. this is assuming that there both is the same condition mechanicly and not to banged up on the body. drive em both. i wouldnt even let the milage difference be an issue. my rig had 127k when i bought it and ive seen plenty of rigs with 300k+ that drive better, look better, and have spent alot less money on little bs stuff. my rig wasnt cared for very well. do you know who owns these trucks.

i would also drive the 98 and check out the egt's. if i was looking at a truck that got too hot as fast as my rig i would walk. no telling if the last person watched the pyro like they should.

I had a 98 2500 standard cab, a 02 2500 QC, a 04 3500 DRW four door, an now I'm back to a 97 3500 DRW CC - all 4x4s. In order of preference: four door, QC, CC, then standard. If it was me I'd take the 97 CC because it is a 4x4 and apparently the 98 isn't, a must have for me.

As for interior layout, dash, seat material, seat belt location, shifter location and design, and doors the 98 QC wins hands down over the 97. The CC is very inconvenient, but I think it will last longer, when the QC starts to shake, rattle, and roll and is safer in a collision.

After two five speeds and two sixers there is no comparison, I hope to see a six speed conversion in the future. ;)

'97 was a great year. :D Have owned mine since 139k miles. Very few repairs. Spent plenty all on BOMBs, though. :-laf Truck even has the original u-joints, however they will be replaced this fall some time. The transmission is the only big item that has been replaced from being wore out.
