Okay, here goes, I would appreciate any help here. I have a 98 12valve, I just upgraded to the stage 4 ATS transmission and love it. Also just put in the EGT gauge, and boost gauge. The engine is stock except for a MBRP 4" exhaust and a K&N air filter. Now that I don't have to worry about the transmission. What's next? MORE POWER OF COURSE!

What are some suggestions for power upgrades. I use the truck mainly for towing my boat to the lake and 25 foot enclosed trailer to the desert. Currently it is kinda a slug.

I have heard everything from fuel plates, turbo housings, complete turbos, intake manifolds?? Waste gated vs. non waste gated? Aurora 2000 kit from ATS and ARC flow intake.

I have considered the following the 16sq cm turbine housing from TST and a number 6 fuel plate??? (Cheapest)

Or An Aurora 2000 Turbo from ATS (non wastegated), ARC flow intake manifold, and a number 6 fuel plate??? (Most Power)

Or lastly the Banks Power Pack with Quick turbo, fuel plate, twin ram intake manifold?? (Most Expensive)

Any help here would be great. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.

Power

OK

Here's Food for thought.

Go with the Banks if you want to be able to floor the throttle and leave it there any time any place for as long as you want and or need.

Banks gets reliable safe power. Expensive and worth every penny.

Pin it and forget it!

Of course once you get the bug you will want more.

How much more will depend on how big your pocket book is. :--)

I have the ATS trans. with billet input shaft. (I had enough power to break the stock input with the mild combo below)

Engine mods started wth the Banks system a long time ago.

About all thats left of the Banks is the 14cm wastegated housing. set to 40 psi.

The Turbo is a 35/40 hybred.

370 injectors #10 plate.

AFE proguard filter.

Timing set to 16*.

3000 rpm GSK

Gibson 4" from turbo back.

Non Egr manifold.

ATS exhaust manifold.

"SFB" Caliper boots keep me stopping.

270k miles

I can spool the turbo and smoke the 35's with the 3:54 gears!

The only problem is I need to monitor the EGT gauge closely.

My next step (I've been told) is Twins Probably towing twins.

Have fun,

I had the earlier version before the twin ram.

If you have an EGR valve clogging up your intake you should get either a Twin ram or a stock cummins without the egr.

The 12v twin ram isn't a waste of money. The high ram for the 24v trucks actually dropped HP on the dyno as reported by 24v owners here on TDR. The twin ram gives more power on 12v engines. If you have an EGR get rid of it, it is on all the time when coolant temp reaches 140*. It's on at idle, cruising and pulling. It will fill you intake with soot, mine got misplaced and I just have never been able to find it to reinstall on engine! So I suffer with an ATS exhaust manifold and twin ram for non-egr engine. I have been able to live with the guilt after a few bottles of counseling medication-beer.

I got the advertised increases with the Banks Power Pack and it has not caused any problems, was fairly painless to install and love the exhaust brake.

I am after good power, not lots of smoke, and good driveability since it is a daily driver. Don't want to race anyone but do believe there is no such thing as to much power but how far you go is based on needs. When the DTT was done I had them do the gov springs, DDII inj and tweak the ats and set timeing to 15. 5*. I am right where I want to be and am quick enough to scare alot of people who want to play. Beat most of them-I don't race, ask my wife. Really look at what you want and add what is needed, gov springs and timing will get you the most bang for the buck.

Well seeing as you have the transmission done. You can do these mods here and have some good power.

BHAF

TST #4 or #5 plate

DDP3 or 370 injectors (the 370's are cheaper but they make the EGT's a little hotter and they haze at idle. )

and for the turbo get the HTB2 64 or 66 but seeing that you tow i would get the towing twins from PDR

3k gsk

also if you have some money left after that get the pump tuned by a professional

all of that together should get you over the 500HP mark... I am still trying to get there but the stock transmission is holding me back...

I went this route

#10 plate, 3k gsk, 4" exhaust, BHAF and bump timing. I ran it like that for a year, it towed great. Then the bug hit again

I added Dynomite Diesel Performance stage 3 injectors and there towing turbo. (Hex 60/14) I tow 11K without having to worry about temps and have no surge. :D Thanks to Lenny and Ross @ DDP.

I`d have to second JO'Leary. I have done the same to my truck except the injectors and turbo, but am saving up for both now. .

From some of the issues I've seen here with Banks, and how high their prices can be, I cant recommend them, mebe only the high ram intake. There are a lot of resources out there for 12v's and a lot can be easily done by the owner.

good luck with the b0mbin just watch that headgasket heh
