Thank you for viewing my ad. I'm finally ready to sell my 98 12V. I still can't quite believe I'm saying it. Anyway, I have owned the truck since 2008. As far as I know I believe I am the second owner. I found this truck sitting on the lot at Parkway Chrysler in Benton, KY and I just had to have it. I actually traded a 2004 common rail quad cab darn near even for it. It was a daily driver for the next six years until I started driving a company vehicle. Since then the truck probably hasn't accumulated more than 5,000 miles. It makes weekly trips to the dump and occassionally gets hitched to the trailer for a random chore. I feel like I've taken excellent care of the truck over the years because my intention was to die with it. The truck has no rust anywhere that I can find, but is 18 years old so there is a blemish here and there. I'll try and elaborate below.

Specifics:

Year: 1998

Model: Ram 2500 QC, SWB, SLT Laramie

Mileage: 180,000

Engine: 12V Cummins Turbo Diesel (215 hp Bosch P7100)

Transmission: NV4500 5 speed

Transfer Case: NP 241

Front Axle: 4850# Dana 60 (optional)

Rear Axle: Dana 80 w/ limited slip differential

Factory Equipment: Leather interior, power driver's seat, cruise, pwr. windows & locks, overhead compass w/ temp., tilt, A/C, pwr. heated mirrors, auto dimming rear view, sliding rear window, trailering package w/ 7-pin connector and receiver hitch, roof clearance lights, 3rd brake light.

Aftermarket Equipment/Tuning: ARP 12mm head studs, 3K GSK, Fuel Plate removed (factory plate comes with truck), AFC tuning, ISSPRO 3-gauge pillar kit, BHAF w/ Outerwears (factory box comes with truck), MBRP 4" stainless turbo back turn down over axle, Tork Tek overflow valve, Westin nerf bars, Delta Champion tool chest, bed mat, gooseneck ball, 7-pin plug in bed (never used, not sure if it works), 2.5" front coil spacers, trailer brake controller.

** This truck is not, and has never been, treated as a hot rod. All modifications were made in the name of driveability and/or reliability.**

Replaced Parts: Cummins head gasket, radiator, shocks, steering box, thermostat, driver's side window motor, that's all I can remember at the moment.

Needs: Truck needs front ball joints installed (new ball joints come with truck), front brake rotors, timing cover crank seal is leaking - needs to be replaced.

Blemishes not obvious in pictures: Dash cover is cracked up some, chrome on grill is bubbled some, but hasn't popped yet, faded spot on front driver's side fender, paint near top of tailgate is dull (possibly repaired at some point - not sure).

I’m really torn about parting with it, but it is time. We’ll be moving soon and I won’t have a place to keep it inside. I’d rather let it go to someone else that can get more use out of it than I can right now. I'm asking $12,500. Give me a call or text to inquire or set up a viewing.

Hi everyone,

The truck has generated a fair amount of interest from some local ads, but I haven't heard anything from anyone who saw it here. If you don't mind give me some feedback. What do you think about the truck, price, etc...?

Thanks,

Derrick Pace

Derrick, I think your truck is fairly priced. We just sold the wife's 98 for $8,000.00. If it hadn't had "use marks" (3 small dents, bed showed it's life as a truck that worked for a living) and a very small amount of peeling silver paint, I'd have asked 10K, may have gotten that anyway who knows, buyer and we are happy. We did sell it to the first guy who looked at it for cash. Had 5 people on the "call me" list if he didn't take it.

My advise is be patient and be willing to negotiate a bit. If it doesn't sale after 10 days or so, pull the local ads, install the ball joints, put a fuel plate back in (smoke control) wait a couple weeks and repost for 16k. Sometimes raising the price will bring in new buyers. You can always go down, hard to go up.

I had mine for sale 2+ yrs ago for 12K.
Same truck except 127K miles (now at 131) and a long wheel base.
It has some rust on the box, but the cab/doors are rust free. Minor dent in fender (I didnt see a shopping cart when backing out of a parking spot) Easy fix. It's small.
I'm the original owner and it's only driver.
It has/had new tires and the dash is MINT! Interior is excellent. (could use a good vacuuming)
I didnt get not one question on it.
It was actually a GOOD thing. I'd never be able to afford a new one.

I think yours is in extremely good/exc cond going from the pics.
I dont think you'll have a problem selling it, but who knows....

Thanks for the feedback. It is just nice to know what people are thinking. In my opinion I have it priced a little high, but with the enthusiast community that supports these trucks I thought it would bring it from the right person. NADA loan value is $10,150 so you can't just go to the bank and get the money for it, which I'm fine with. Despite the few slight mods on the truck I've always considered myself to be its curator, doing my best to preserve it. I have a local friend who is an enthusiast/collector that is trying to figure out if he can buy it right now. Hopefully he'll want to complete his set. He has everything except 2nd gens, including one of the nicest '93 extended cab 4x4s you'll probably ever see. Keep the thoughts coming if you wish. It is always nice to talk to people that know the difference between a p-pump and a bicycle pump, ha!

I think that's a good price on one of the cleanest trucks (from the pics) I've seen on a truck of that year with all the right equipment. I sold my '01 5 speed for 10,500, but I literally sold it in 10 minutes on Craigslist (and had a couple backup offers). I sold it to a truck reseller, so I know I sold it waaaay underprice. The manual transmission trucks hold their resale, and CLEAN 12v trucks have a premium over my 24v. It's good to see a nice clean 12v. I'd hold out on the price as well.

If for some reason the truck I'm going to go look at on Sunday doesn't work out then I will be giving you a ring. Beautiful truck!

My boy just totaled my "01 two weeks ago up by Albany KY. We live in Tennessee near Jamestown. we'll be back up in a week or so. I would be interested enough to come take a look.

SOLD! Sent it to a good new home in KS. Thank you all for your feedback, and thank you to Turbo Diesel Register for allowing us non-members to post ads.

Regards,

Derrick Pace
