I noticed today that my a/c is not blowing as cold as it should. I pulled into a rest area and looked under the truck. What I believe to be the compressor is low on the engine, passenger side. The pulley was turning, but if the clutch is on the inside of the pulley like my old GM vehicles, it didn't kick off. So I got in the cab, turned the a/c off and the inside of the pulley still did not cease to turn.

I have not been able to look at it close enough to tell, can anyone tell me, is the clutch visible by looking at the front of the pulley? Should it be kicking on and off and should I be able to see it from the front of the compressor when it does?

The air seemed to be much colder a few weeks ago after purchasing the truck. It is possible that I bought a truck with a leaky system and the PO had it charged right before I looked at it.

It was also VERY humid and hot today but I really dont think it was enough to make this big of a difference.

Suggestions?

I had to add some R134a to 02 a couple of weeks ago. I have 75,000 miles on the truck & couldn't find any leaks. I bought a can of R134a with a gauge from the local parts store. I added some & now my AC blows very cold.

I have no a/c at all. I tried the can and guadge last year didnt work figured I could live with it till this past week now i have to really check stuff any ideas?

you can jump the low pressure switch (located on the accumulator) if your compressor cycles then your out of freon or your switch is bad.

if it does not cycle then you got wiring problem or clutch is bad.

I know Im going to sound like a real noodle head for saying this but there is a clicking sound (on/off type thing) almost constantly could this have anything to do with it.
