Greetings-

Here is the deal. My A/C has been acting up down here in South Texas and that aint good. I took it to a A/C shop and they found some leaks in some hoses and on a valve on the condenser and $400 later I still have the same problem.

My A/C works fine when I first start the truck and drive less than 40 MPH. After I take the on-ramp and run around 10# of boost for a minute the A/C starts getting weak and smells like a pair of gym shoes. After coasting off the off-ramp about a minute later, the A/C is pumping out cold air.

What do you all think this problem is? Compressor, evaporator, condenser, or something else?

Thanks for the help - I know someone out there has seen this before.

When you say it smells like gym shoes - a few possibilities; you've got some yuk growing in there that needs to be bleached or disinfected out some how - does the evap drain drip condensate if you stop with A/C on does the drain show water dripping? What confuses me is it's good up to 40 but, when the speed is higher it's not good? I doubt that boost has anything to do with it - the condenser coil is forward in the air stream of the inter-cooler & radiator and gets the first air. Does the air flow change as your engine speed increases and that makes it feel as the A/C isn't doing it's job? If so, could be a vacuum leak? And, the air box doors are starting to close diverting air elsewhere.

Joe MC-

I will take a look to see if the evaporator is dropping water - if it isn't what does that mean?

As for the force of air out of the vents, that remains a constant as speed changes.

Thanks for the help
