My a/c motor kicks on and off when I start my truck 5 to 10 sec on then 5 to 10 sec off and so on. It blows cold once I get moving. I had an explorer do the same thing and it blew hot. Any ideas????
Mine does that too. Most likely the high pressure is too high due to insufficient air flow over the condenser. Once you get it moving, there's enough air flow to cool the freon and keep the pressures down to a safe level. I think others have seen the same thing.
(Insert snide comment about R134a, federal govt meddling, etc. )

When you say "My a/c motor kicks on and off" are you refering to the compressor? If it cycles on and off at first then that usually means a LOW freon charge. What happens is the compressor engages, the low or suction side pressure dips too low and the low side pressure safety switch trips until the static pressure increases.
Is this happening when the ac is turned on or while it is off. My ac compressor seems to cycle when I turn the truck on even with the ac switch off! Is this normal? I did not know the clutch would engage until the ac switch was punched on. I did just have the ac compressor changed out and it does blow cold with the ac switch on but not when the switch is off... just the clutch engaging. Anyone?
