Competition how much boost out of twins?

Competition Using HX 35 in twin setup

Joe,

Some friends of mine just got back from SEMA and they told me about a conversation they had with you on making HP... ... . Maybe you remember them, they are the owners/ operators of the dyno shop where the Mason Dixon TDR chapter holds the fall brawl. Seems that you want to dispute some of the HP #'s that are being made by anyone other than you.

Tell you what, lets work on getting you to another event other than good ol Vegas. As I hear it you feel as though coming to the Fall Brawl is too expensive. Well I am willing to bet that there are enough guys out my way that we could help out with expenses (providing you lay down the highest HP #). If for some wild cosmic event that old sickly doesn't make the high HP # then all expenses would be paid by you. Heck the way I see it this is a great deal..... You get to come see the historic East plus whoop up on all the no HP guys back here for practically free (providing you win). Just a word to the wise "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight"!

What do you say?

Doug

Challenge

Come'on Joe What'd ya Say. ????? I'm one of the ones that'll be puttin up $$ if you show up. Well??

Hey Jim, i Gaurantee you you'll have a Blast! Come on east. :D :D

Scott

What's this about a knife at a gunfight? Jetpilot, you make 674 on #2. I don't do drugs. My truck doesn't drink either. No alcohol. It's a diesel truck. I'll spot you and others the twins (130 hp, right?) but who is close enough to my 799. 9 on diesel only to make it a real gun fight? If any fuel is OK, I'll get John Force to loan me his hemi. I can add a teaspoon of #2 to the nitro and I'll bet it will fit in the Ram and make more hp too.

Sure, I happened to meet Kauffman at SEMA, but I did not deny the validity of any numbers on his dyno. Where did you get such an idea? I really liked the 507 hp ricer too.

Come to May Madness, it is before next Fall.

Joe,

As it was said At SEMA power is power. Make it how you want... . I am not limiting anyone to anything. Bring N2O, triples, twins, or even a single. If you want to run some of John's nitro in your 5. 9 go for it :D

As for who is close I believe Maddog made 806 on #2

Doug

Power is power but these are diesel trucks and not top fuelers. Everyone can be on a level playing field by running on diesel only, as the trucks were intended to use. Gee, HVAC made 685 on diesel only with just a VP44. Let's see what you can do, beyond your current 674, with the huge 13 mm plunger P pump.

Maddog's 806 had something like a 16% correction factor largely due to altitude, not needed with twin turbos. Still an impressive number but lets look at how he did in Vegas before and after the high altitude runs. The number at May Madness was 686, and after the run in Salt Lake, he backed it up with 672 this month in Vegas on the Dynojet 248. That is something like 800 at the flywheel, and consistent with the times he is running on the strip. Richard said he only made 70 psi on the dyno, 100 on the strip. My single "lag hog" Turbo is being held back even more by the low loading on the dyno, I imagine.

This should be fun and games. I do dyno testing to learn more about how my engine works and how to make it run better. I've learned a lot and had a lot of fun doing it. Doug, along the way you are getting similar opportunities to learn a lot of things, such as how to change your head gasket, like at Kauffman's, and to set the timing on the mighty P-pump. With proper tuning and selection of parts, you and Richard should each be able to get another 100 hp from your high performance PDR "stoopid" P-pumped engines. Tuning and learning are the real purposes for me, not throwing out challenges.

Man did I just see that silly comment. Hmmm, seems like to me Joe you make those challenges all the time,BUT,they ONLY ever include the nation coming to your show or shops. Guess when the shoes on the other foot now AGAIN you make excuses. I do get a good chuckle when I hear one of our members keep insisting that your a "good Guy" and just like jerking our chains. They even almost(keyword here) had me convinced of that till the S. E. M. A. show. You,all by yourself, have dug a hole that will be hard to even drive "Sickly" out of with your antics and comments at that event.

Sure, I happened to meet Kauffman at SEMA, but I did not deny the validity of any numbers on his dyno. Where did you get such an idea?

Hmmm. .

Again I see another comment that defies logic. Lets see if he can remember any of his more famous quotes... .

If anyone wants to be competitive in the horsepower/dyno competition, then compete on the dyno with the rest of us.

Everyone who wanted them got free dyno runs at MM02 and could line up on the same yardstick. Those who didn't, well they can try next year. Meanwhile, they can't claim an accurate place on that same yardstick from results on a different dyno, different elevation, different weather conditions, etc.

So as you see you DO and ALWAYS criticize any dyno numbers, especially those not made in front of you. Seems like you always find time for challenges when its time for MM,but always sidestep any others. So is this a challenge to you Joe,some would call it that, not me. I call it you writing a check with your recent rambles at the SEMA show that your afraid to cash as you have upset not only me,but, quite a few others by doing it.

I will leave now so I don't allow my passion to overdrive my brain here and get yet another note due to you from the mgmnt here.

So here is to hoping that you decide to show up sometime soon and maybe even finally admit your a vendor... ... ... ... . Andy

p. s. -BTW,As I have said before in a previous post,IF you have a problem with me,address it with me. its not like you can not reach me.

I have to throw two pennies in here!

I'll spot you and others the twins (130 hp, right?)

I wish you would show me a set of Twins that will gain 130HP over that huge hybrid single of yours... wait ED West has a set that should do it.

you and Richard should each be able to get another 100 hp from your high performance PDR "stoopid" P-pumped engines.

I gained about 100 hp over my stock 180 pump but not that tweaked 215 of yours, I've played with a 215 in stock form it is not even in the same league as a Piers pump.

with the huge 13 mm plunger P pump So now that Don has 13mm's in his 215 tell me the difference in his pump and mine, as I know the 215 has a darn good cam in it and my stoopid only has 191 DV's in it.

How about another challenge for the plate, I'd like to see someone with my Diesel knowledge of Zero as of 2 years ago and my 45K a year income make 700 HP repeatedly with a stock top turbo'd set of home built Twins! Yes I run Water/Meth injection, it makes 32hp in full fuel mode as am completely out of air..... I proved this on the dyno going from 674 hp without to 706 with it.

Jim

Sorry guys I came out of Character on this!

Joe,

Hmmm, so now you only want to go against single charger, 215 pump trucks and only in Vegas..... Is this correct? Well just to set the record straight my pump is just a little ol 160 :D (yes Piers has tweeked it) and given your equations my auto transmission is hurting me in the HP department.

As for the timing issue, guess you were a little peeved that the Kauffman boys wouldn't tell you what I was running for timing. Now the headgasket issue, well lately Sickly has the same problem as I have been told.

Joe here is the deal, take it or leave it. Come on out, run your truck, run whatever fuel source you want and as many or few chargers as you want. Lay down the biggest # and go home a winner. There are NO limitations in the HP game, so quit crying about twins and drugs. I would also be willing to come to Vegas for MM if you will make the same offer financially for me.

Guys... this is easy,

The dyno can be anywhere we want. At a Walmart shopping center if we choose, anywhere in between. :D

I'd just personally love to see 800+hp cause so far I haven't.

I will say this though, I did see 551hp the other day, nearly smoke free out of a Garmon 12v. Was pretty awesome to be able to use all 551hp without shutting traffic down or drawing unwanted attention to the truck while blistering down the road.

David...

Funny you mention this as I have been thinking about it all day. I may have a solution and will have a chat with the shops owner about it. He is looking to have a BIG kick-off grand Opening for his shop in Missouri anyway in the spring.

So how is this for a idea...

You bring your portable Jet to Rammin-On's new Forest City,Mo based shop when he has his open house and grand opening next spring. This will ensure a ''Middle" of the country, even trip for all who wish to come,No-Holds-barred,Don't Bring A Knife To a Gunfight Highest HP shootout. Only one rule will be enforced and that would trucks must have current tags & insurance. ANY Fuels,ANY additives and ALL types of Spray legal. Bottom Line will be this,Make the power,LOTS of it,Anyway they can that way there will be no more East-West Crayola and no more crap about being on the same page, oops, I mean on Silver States page.

Its is amazing how the dyno runs from out West differ when you over-lay them to some of runs from the heavy hitters from East of the "Big Muddy". Yes,power numbers are impressive, but from what I see drivability in those big combo's from out West would suffer. One thing that is continually missed by those "I got the most power" people out from out there is best combination and all around usage which alot of the eastern trucks pride themselves in. One of the best pure combo trucks around out here is Snow Man's rocket box. All that power, driven everyday and still plows snow over the hood of the truck, how much more stout can you get ,this truck is no dyno queen for sure.

Joe...

Its amazing to me that you are so concerned for what we are doing out here and I am glad Dave told you how much timing Jet added to his truck, let see here how did he put it "about a thumbs worths. . LOL". I guess if you can not find it on the Internet you have to sneak around and get it,whatever. Time is running short and we all will await the answer... ... ... Andy

On Edit...

I forgot to add this also Joe. .

You will find not to many of our members out here who will, even if they make the trip, dyno in a shop who can not even spend the minuscule amount for a optical sensor for measuring torque or use the updated software.

Nitrous oxide, N2O, is obtained by thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate in the melt at 250-260 deg. C. It can also produced in the reduction of nitrites and nitrates and by the decomposition of hyponitrites. At higher temperatures it decomposes to nitrogen and oxygen, it reacts with alkali metals, and many organic compounds, and it will support combustion. Its structure is well established. The molecule is linear and can be described as a resonance hybrid
