Update to the this meandering tail. The local dealership down here had an F250 with around 50k miles on it and the 6.7 power stroke. The wife almost liked it after the test drive. The truck was a power beast and in really nice condition. The price was fair so the next day we went back to negotiate a deal. The truck ended up selling for less than I was willing to offer. The sales man started asking questions knowing how much I really liked my F150 diesel, and realizing he missed out on a bigger commission. Not wanting to miss out again he said let me see what I can find.
A day later he calls asking for my email says he’s got something I might want to see. The guy is good, he found a 2021 diesel 150. The next trim level higher, a lariat package. With 18k miles on it. And it’s the same color as my old wrecked truck. And the price would be less than that F250 I missed out on. It came with the Ford Certified warranty which on paper looks way better than the original factory warranty.
A week and a half later I was test driving and the only thing I didn’t care for is the digital dash, I’m an analog guy but that’s not a deal breaker. I’m happy to say it’s everything my old truck was and happily now living in my driveway. I’m still in the game……

And for those wondering I’ve been in touch with a neurologist. And working out what actually happened. They say scar tissue from having the tumor removed last year is the cause. But the right meds will eliminate that episode from ever repeating it’ll be a while before I get to drive again while we make sure that I’m on the right dosage, but at least I’m on the right path.

I feel that exact same way.

I believe there should be a fair number of diesel, gas, and EVs that one can buy.

Lucky (or unlucky) for me, I am working a weekend job now for my next diesel vehicle.

I'd love to buy a brand new diesel car, but no one sells brand new diesel cars or small trucks. So now I am forced to work another job to buy another expensive diesel truck, because I want to use diesel fuel and have the latest diesel tech versus gasoline.

I feel discriminated against. I even feel the same vibes on these diesel forums such as TDR.

But yeah, I don't want to hijack the thread... good luck with the mini PowerStroke.

Bought a 2018 F150 3.0 platinum new. Put 128000 on it. It was a great truck. Pulled well. Great mileage averaged 26 on the highway. vp4 fuel pump went and cost me $11500.00. I’m in the class action lawsuit along with all other vp4 fuel pump owners. Traded it in for a 2023 Ram 2500 Longhorn Limited. Looked hard at the GM 3.0 straight 6. But they drink oil and def if towing almost as fast as diesel.

I wanted the mini-Duramax about a year and a half ago, but I didn't like the oil pump belt and the interior. I also didn't like how it shifted.

I got the 2020 1500 EcoDiesel Gen 3, and so far so good. I really like the interior, the transmission, and the sound of the engine. Plus since 2014 when the EcoD first came out, I had my interests sparked.

However once my warranty is out, I'm going to trade it in for a 3500 Cummins. Either end of 2026 or 2027.

I'm slightly paranoid about the intake design (soot problems), and I'm hearing reports of frozen alternators taking out starters, and DPF problems as more owners start accumulating miles. I'd rather trade it or sell it with no driveability problems and not keep it till its falling apart like I did with my last vehicle. I figure in 2026 or 2027, it'll be 6-7 years old. Right in line for a perfect trade, to still get some decent money out of it.

Some may say I lost money not just going straight to what I originally wanted, a HD truck, but you only live once. I'd rather lose some money on a truck and treat it like a vacation, because that's what floats my boat. LOL -- I'm glad I got a chance to try the EcoD.

I also look at it as when I get my HD truck, I'll be keeping that a long, long time. Which will only make the new truck younger.

I believe if I hadn’t the vp4 pump would have went out way sooner. As for my new Ram 2500 6.7. I haven’t added any fuel additive but I’m looking into arch oil fuel additive and might start using it.

No need for any additives in the 6.7. I ran some Optilube XPD early on before my CP4.2 was replaced but have not since and zero issues so far.

So far at 57k miles it's running great. I changed all of the fluids on it last year when I got it at 51k. This past weekend I was bored and changed the accessory/serpentine belt on it. Put new Cooper highway tires on it this spring and got a set of rims with Bridgestone Blizzaks on it for the winter.

Still need to get the HPFP recall done, will reach out to my local dealer in the next few weeks.

Biggest things I wish it had was an exhaust brake, DPF gauge, boost gauge, and stationary elevated idle control like the Cummins has.

I'm really hoping that the 2025 RAM HD with the new Powerline transmission will be the cherry on top. I cannot wait to test drive one.
