Columbo,

Uh just one more question if you don't mind. Just why did you guys do that? Was there any money involved?
PSA's electric vehicles is one reason. "Massive cost savings" (ie massive RIF) is another.

Its NOT French! They are smaller then we are, half the size of FCA.
Control is what matters and it sounds like PSA wants and will get the control. DCX deja vu ::falcepalm::

While the deal has been touted as a 50-50 merger, French carmaker PSA is expected to have the upper hand, with its cost-cutting CEO Carlos Tavares in charge and PSA controlling the new company’s board.

What about Jeep?
I hope they don't mess with Jeep. They will probably rebage some tiny pos European vehicle to try to capitalize on the Jeep brand recognition. There was a worrisome statement from a PSA talking head on the news the other night about bringing something to the table to improve the Jeep brand, nothing specific, but typical of takeovers where arrogance and ignorance "fix" what wasn't broken.

That's what say now wait until mid-year and we enter downturn in our economy then we see what happens.
The deal will not be finalized for 12 to 15 months. Don't expect much before then.

I am not worried about the Ram brand at all. They have been the best trucks for years, with or without a Cummins (although that makes then MUCH better) and will continue to be so. I have owned a 2001 1500 (360), a 2003 2500 (Hemi), a 2005 3500(Cummins), a 2011 3500 (Cummins) a 2015 3500 (Cummins) and now, a 2019 3500 (Cummins). Each truck has been better than the last, mechanically and in terms of comfort and technology. I don't see this changing...it is a brand that sells a good product and makes money.

Here we go everyone.

I don’t have a warm fuzzy feeling about this. PSA seems hellbent on letting the Chinese in, which really hasn’t happened with FCA.
What I’m hoping for is a Harley Davidson style employee buyback of the Chrysler brands and to rebirth it as a real American company once again. I this global world, I know I’m just dreaming. I just want Chrysler back where it was before Daimler walked in.

No you wont, wait till the 8th Speed is out so you can test drive it.:cool::cool:

While under full throttle towing or solo I only drop about 2-300rpm between the gears so I really don't think two or 4 more gears will matter much.

We will see when they test the BIG THREE on the Ike with RAM's lowly 6 speed against Ford and GM's 10 speed.

Sure did nothing for the GM 2500 SRW compared to the 3500 DRW RAM towing the exact same RV on the Ike. GM should have smoked the RAM.

They won't let me "test drive" a new truck with my 24k DRV attached, so how could I make a fair comparison???
