I have "Spinning MY gears" working up a circuit to have better, higher wattage fog/running lights and to have the option to have them work on high beam. I also set up a circuit to have a couple of Grote Trilliant auxiliary back up lights. They can be off, work only with the transmission in reverse or be able to be turned on without the key on and without the trans in reverse. ALL options have visible tattle tail lights when the on option is selected.
I'll try to post my schematic at a later time. None of the above features put any additional load on the trucks TIPM. I have used 2 relays and 4 diodes on the relay feeds.
Here is where I mounted 2 rocker switches. My 6 speed, 4x4 truck had two little compartments on both sides of the climate control switches. I pulled the center dash face (what a PITA!) and removed the left compartment cubby. I used a Dremel tool and flattened out the small plastic flanges around the hole on the back side of the center dash face. I cut out a small piece of aluminum sheet into a semi square that fit now across the opening. I then sanded the back side plastic on the center dash piece and the aluminum with some coarse sand paper so some JB Quick weld would stick to both surfaces. I carefully applied the JB weld so it wouldn't squeeze out into the area you see and then smeared the rest across the back. Not pretty but it works. After a day to set the JB weld, I measured and found the centers of the panel and switch centers. I cut out the rectangles out with a Dremel and fit the switches.
I did the same procedure of attaching an aluminum panel and mounted a gauge on my Dentists Dodge as shown in this thread.

If these ever need to be removed then all I need to do is to replace the center dash face with a new one.
