Stupid Car Luck

I have been to lots of wide open country, and I think there is nothing more beautiful than an oil derrick or two sticking up in the middle of it!

Drill baby drill!!!

You know, if you guys would all switch to Amsoil and extend your drains, we would not need to drill!!LOL:D :p

. I don't believe it is unreasonable to preserve a small part of America's arctic coastal plain. Much more is open to drilling.

Lastly, you stated the 1002 area is a "small area near Deadhorse". Previously you claimed this is a huge area the size of some States that 2000 acres of development won't impact. Well what is it? A small area, or a huge area the size of some States?

Preserving a small part of it? According to the maps I've managed to read (government, agencies, organizations), it's the small part we want to open, not the big part.

But about your last question. Go back, read what I said. I generally write with reasonably clear meaning, and what I said, was that the ANWR was as large or larger than many states, and that the current legislation dealt only with about 2000 acres.

In fact, I said that repeatedly.

180,000 Caribou... hmmmm... There are 1. 5 million acres of arctic coastal plain within the ANWR and much more than that outside of the ANWR. When Prudhoe Bay was explored for drilling, it's estimated that there were about 3000 caribou in the area. Since that time, the desecration and utter horrific environmental disaster of drilling has caused that herd to rise to more than 20,000.

As to the amount of oil there... Industry estimates that there's more oil untapped than has been found at Prudhoe Bay.

27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

28God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground. "

29Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

30And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food. " And it was so.

I have made my living from the oil business for 51 years. It has been good to my family and me. Unfortunately I have not benefited from any of the obscene profits.

I can see valid points on both sides of this debate but I can tell you from personal experience and an insiders knowledge that a lot of the so called facts about how much oil is available and were it is are flat wrong.

I have been to and worked in the oil fields of the Rub Al Khali (empty quarter in Saudi Arabia), Nigeria, West Africa, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia as well as most of the oil producing states of the United States. To keep the debate honest and not emotional I would advise study and listening to the other guys reasoned arguments. If they are not reasoned ignore him. I did go to the links Power Wagon put up. It was most enlightening.

I am working for a major engineering company right now on a plan for a pipeline to move natural gas from Prudhoe Bay and the Mackenzie Valley to the USA. All of the arguments notwithstanding we do continue to use more and more petroleum products, even those who rant against the oil companies.

I won't inflame the debate by adding my personal opinions but to any who want my input just drop me a note. I have drilled for oil myself. I have gone completely broke in the oil business myself. I have recovered from going broke by working for other oil companies and engineering companies and I will continue to work for them until I die. I’m not going to retire even though I'm 66 now because I don't have the money to do so and live like I want to live after losing it all in the oil business in 85. I'm solvent now and could make it without working but I don't want to try to live on the social security I'm getting and small savings. I have to have the extra money to buy diesel fuel and electricity for my air conditioning. Besides I have a brand new Gummie Turbo Diesel Dodge Truck with no BOMBS added yet!
