My dealer recommended that I replace the shocks in the front end of my RAM, but I'd like a second opinion. Does anyone know where to get one in the Denver/North Front Range area of Colorado?

THANKS!!

Speaking for Colorado Springs, I cannot recommend a dealer here. However, I installed RS9000s a few months ago in my 2wd and they were a big improvement.

Stock shocks are El Cheapo! My stock rear shocks had 1/4" free play after only 3K miles. Any aftermarket shocks will be light years ahead of the stockers. Rancho, Edelbrock, Bilstein, Pro Comp are all good shocks imo. The Roadmasters + Edelbrocks really tamed the rear end bounce/jounce in my 2500 4x4. The wife no longer makes unhappy noises and reaches for the grab handles on bumpy back roads #ad

Uh, I live in Denver. My opinion? They're shot (assuming they are OE). I recently put on 4 Pro Comps (front & rear), total cost was $100, including a can of black hammerite. Much better.

For a test, try this. From a slow roll (~5 mph), jam the brakes. If the front end bobs excessivly, time for new shocks.

I also installed roadmasters at the same time as the rear shocks (before the front). The ride was much improved, but it's hard to say which had a greater effect.

Mark,

I can point you to 2 really good dealers around the Denver area. 1st - Johnsons Auto Plaza off of Hwy 85 and Hwy 7 (Brighton). 2nd - Christophers Dodge, off of hwy 6 and Colfax (Golden). Both dealers have treated me great. Please feel free to send me and e-mail if you would like further information on these dealers.

My 96 2500 4x4 used to wander going straight, brakes locked up prematurely, and the driver used to talk to God a lot in turns. We changed to Rancho shocks and steering stabilizer. Now the truck behaves pretty nice, and fast corners are just fun and not a religious experience.

Thanks guys! You guys rule... another reason it is great to be in Colorado !
